Responds to fire alarms and extinguishes fire; Responds to calls for emergency medical services, and renders first aid; Performs salvage operations such as throwing salvage covers, sweeping water and removing debris; Responds to and renders assistance in emergency cases; Cleans and inspects equipment and apparatus after returning from a fire; Inspects equipment and apparatus and notifies superior officer of any defects; Makes minor repairs to equipment and apparatus, performs routine preventative maintenance tasks, and keeps records of such action; Keeps fire station, equipment and grounds in a clean and orderly condition; Participates in training activities and instruction sessions; Acquires and retains a thorough knowledge of the district, including streets, buildings, water supply, unusual hazards and related items; Performs various public information or education tasks; Enters inspection, training and fire and emergency medical service calls into the records management systems; Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with department policies and procedures; Works in a safe manner and reports unsafe activity and conditions. Follows safety policy and practices and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety prevention, reporting and monitoring as outlined in the Districts Safety Handbook. Other Duties and Responsibilities: May respond to emergency calls for specialized service such as hazardous materials, confined spaces rescue, extrication and technical rescues that include high angle, below grade, swift water, trench and collapse rescues. | Requirements: Firefighter candidates must be 18 years old at time of application. FireCorps candidates must be 18 years old at time of application. This job is responsible for assisting department personnel with fundraising, vehicle and station maintenance, community fire prevention campaigns, installing smoke alarms, assisting in emergency shelter operations, and other non-tactical duties of the station. Applicants are asked to be free of any felony convictions and no convictions of theft, arson or assault. Other criminal charges could be disqualifying based on the judgement of the Chief of the department. | Requirements: A FireCorp member will be highly driven individual who doesn't wish to respond to emergency scenes regularly. These individuals are physically or emotionally not able to respond to the day to day calls our response personnel do but want to help in some other way. Currently we have personnel who clean our station, help with fundraising, and some secretarial duties. We are looking for certified vehicle mechanics to keep our fleet running smoothly and anyone else looking to help with the department. | Categories: Department Support

Applicants to this category are either already TN licensed Emergency Medical Responders, EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic or are people who are interested in dedicating their time to learn these valuable skills. The department will provide training up to the Emergency Medical Responder level which will allow personnel to respond to people who need medical attention or have been involved in some type of physical trauma. These personnel will be required to provide top notch medical care until White County EMS arrives on scene, assist EMS, and provide a thorough and complete Patient Care Report. | Requirements: Medical Response candidates must be 18 years old at time of application.
