Responding to emergency calls is only one part of being a member of the Town Line Volunteer Fire Department. Keeping skills sharp requires hours of dedicated training. All of our firefighters must go through a state certification process and maintain the required annual training. Our members also each take a part in the day-to-day operations of the department including vehicle and equipment inventory and maintenance, building and grounds upkeep, committee work, public relations events, and more. Benefits include: - FREE annual physical - FREE CPR/First Aid Training - $750 payment when you finish initial NYS fire training - $1,250 payment when you finish NYS interior firefighter training - Earn up to $800 per month retirement when you turn 62 - FREE EMT training - FREE gym membership - Property tax credits - FREE uniforms - Rewarding pride in oneself when you are able to help others | Requirements: No previous experience or qualifications are required. Instead of responding to alarms from your home, our Out of District Members commit to 20 hours of duty time at the station each month. Assist in maintaining and improving the trails at Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge. Volunteers will help with tasks such as clearing paths, repairing boardwalks, and ensuring trails are accessible for visitors.

Assist in the operation of the Flyway Nature Store by helping customers, restocking merchandise, and providing information about the refuge and its programs.

Participate in gardening and weeding activities to maintain the natural beauty of the refuge. Volunteers will work on various gardening projects, including planting and maintaining pollinator meadows.

Moderate the live stream of the bald eagle nest camera, providing information and answering questions from viewers. This role involves monitoring the camera feed and engaging with the online community.

Participate in various PTO events to enhance the educational experience of students at Ledgeview Elementary. Volunteers are needed to support school events and activities, contributing to a vibrant school community.

Assist with PTO activities at Harris Hill Elementary to support school programs and initiatives. Volunteers play a key role in organizing events and fostering a collaborative school environment.

Provide veterinary assistance and support for the care of rescue dogs. Volunteers will help with medical needs and ensure the health and well-being of the dogs.

Support fundraising efforts by helping organize and execute fundraising events. Volunteers will contribute to planning and engaging with the community to raise funds for the rescue.

Conduct reference calls for adoption applications to verify information and support the adoption process. Volunteers will communicate with applicants and references to gather necessary details.

Assist in transporting dogs to and from various locations, including adoption events and foster homes. Volunteers will ensure the safe and timely transport of dogs.

Create marketing materials and graphics to promote the rescue and its events. Volunteers will use their creative skills to design engaging content for various platforms.

Assist in processing the thousands of adoption applications received each year. Volunteers will help ensure that applications are reviewed and processed efficiently to facilitate the adoption process.

Assist with the planning and execution of special events, including adoption events and community outreach. Volunteers will help with logistics and engage with attendees.

Assist in writing and submitting grant applications to secure funding for the rescue. Volunteers will research opportunities and draft proposals to support the organization's mission.
