Assist with the maintenance and expansion of the Brownsboro Alliance Trails. Volunteers will help ensure trails are safe and accessible for hikers and horseback riders.

Provide a temporary home for Bengal cats in need of care until they are adopted. Volunteers will be responsible for daily care, feeding, and socialization of the cats.

Assist in transporting Bengal cats to their new homes or foster families across the Great Lakes region. Volunteers will be responsible for ensuring the safe and comfortable travel of the cats.

Engage with survivors in faith-based shelters, providing support and encouragement. Volunteers will assist in organizing events and activities that promote healing and empowerment for survivors of sex trafficking.

At LaGrange Fire and Rescue we are a volunteer department that is supplemented by part time personnel. The men and women of the fire department are comprised of people from all walks of life who strive to provide a professional service to the communities they live and work in. With only a small time commitment of less than 5 hours per week average, you could become a firefighter at LaGrange Fire and Rescue. Responding to calls for service such as field fires, structure fires, EMS assists, auto accidents, hazardous material incidents, confined space and rope rescues, and water rescues all using state of the art equipment. From recruit school to weekly trainings, you will develop bonds that will last a lifetime. Help plan and carry out fundraising or supply donation events, volunteer for the annual kitten shower, and assist with adoption events.

Identify foster training needs, ensure kittens begin vaccinations at the appropriate time, maintain communication with fosters, and coordinate with the Adoptions Leader for surgeries and adoptions.

Transport kittens to/from vet appointments, spay/neuter surgery, and final adoption locations.

Identify potential volunteers, help with recruitment, plan social gatherings, maintain communication with volunteers, and ensure they feel supported and appreciated.

Keep pet adoption sites up-to-date, review adoption applications, facilitate communication between adopter and foster, supervise volunteers at adoption events, and coordinate with the Foster Volunteer Leader to schedule spay/neuter surgeries and final adoptions.

Identify grant opportunities and write grant applications to support LOKR's mission.

Offer to take photos of adoptable kittens and assist in maintaining updated visual content for adoption sites.

Care for kittens once they are using a litter box but still need to be bottle-fed and socialized.

Care for and socialize kittens after weaning until they weigh enough for their spay/neuter surgery.

Care for kittens from birth until litter-box trained.

Participate in friendship ministries to provide spiritual support and companionship to residents. Volunteers will engage in activities that promote spiritual growth and community bonding.

Assist with landscaping tasks to maintain and beautify the Cedar Lake properties. Volunteers will work in groups to ensure the environment is welcoming and well-kept for residents and visitors.

Help organize and assist with craft activities for residents, fostering creativity and engagement. Volunteers will work closely with residents to encourage participation and enjoyment in arts and crafts.

The Volunteer Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician (Volunteer FF/EMT) serves the community by responding to a wide variety of situations, ranging from emergencies that immediately threaten life or property to routine citizen requests for information or assistance. They perform duties in the following general categories: fire suppression, emergency medical aid or rescue, hazardous material responses, training, building inspections and public education. The Volunteer FF/EMT normally works under the supervision of a company officer and is expected to function effectively as part of a highly trained team. They are also expected to perform their duties under adverse conditions and physical conditions that may pose a high risk of personal injury or exposure to hazardous conditions or infectious diseases. The Volunteer FF/EMT is required to attend regularly scheduled training in order to maintain the high level of knowledge, skill and ability necessary to function safely and effectively as a firefighter and EMS provider in accordance with state law, county protocols, and standard operating procedures. | Requirements: Be at least 18 y/o.
