Active member will be defined by the General Falkville Volunteer Fire Department Station Policy Statement as adopted by the Board of Directors and General Membership. Must obtain National Incident Management System (NIMS) training courses consisting of IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800 and any additional courses as required by the governing body within sixty (60) calendar days of being approved for membership. Firefighter: • Must obtain minimum Pro-Board Certification for Firefighter I and II, Hazardous Materials Awareness / Operations, and medical training consisting of either First (1st) Responder, Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) or Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B). Within two (2) years of department membership, Medical and/or First-Aid within one (1) year of department membership. • Must complete training or be enrolled for training within one (1) calendar year of being approved for membership. Medical: • Must obtain a minimum of Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B). • Must complete training or be enrolled for training within one (1) calendar year of being approved for membership. Volunteer Requirements and Acknowledgement Qualifications For Support Roster: All new applicants are required to submit an application for membership and shall be approved by the Board of Directors prior to being presented to the General Membership for final approval. Our BLS, non-transport fire department handles approximately 750 calls per year and proudly serves about 4,500 residents across nearly 12 square miles. We also have a strong mutual aid response with neighboring jurisdictions. There are plenty of training opportunities available through local resources and the Alabama Fire College for fire and EMS certifications, so no prior training or certifications are required to apply.
