Here at Delanson Fire company we understand a busy life. Family, work, and time to put everything together can be hectic, but have you ever thought about becoming a firefighter or EMT? We are looking for people who want to help there community and have fun doing it. Whether its helping fight a fire or helping a child who hurt themselves at the local soccer game we are there and you can be too. It's fun, rewarding and best of all, its helping your neighbors. You don't need to live in the Village of Delanson to join and you decide how much time you want to put in. It could be a couple of hours a month or it could be every call. Assist with the maintenance of gardens and trails at Landis Arboretum. Tasks include planting, weeding, pruning, and general upkeep to ensure the beauty and accessibility of the grounds.

Assist with educational programs and activities at Landis Arboretum. This includes helping with guided tours, workshops, and family-friendly events to engage and educate visitors about nature and the environment.

Support the Landis Arboretum by helping with social media, marketing campaigns, and public relations. This role involves creating content, managing social media accounts, and promoting events and activities.

Volunteers are needed to assist with therapeutic riding lessons, which require a lead walker to control the horse and two side walkers to assist the rider. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and willing to commit at least one night a week.

Volunteers are needed at fundraising events to support the facility's work. Responsibilities include taking donations and helping with parking. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and willing to commit at least one night a week.

The Volunteer Firefighter serves the community by responding to a wide variety of situations, ranging from emergencies that immediately threaten life or property to routine citizen requests for information or assistance. They perform within the scope of the policies and procedures of the Altamont Fire Department and they perform duties in the following general categories: fire suppression, emergency rescue, hazardous material responses, training, building inspections and public education. The Volunteer FF normally works under the supervision of a company officer and is expected to function effectively as part of a highly trained team. They are also expected to perform their duties under adverse conditions and physical conditions that may pose a high risk of personal injury or exposure to hazardous conditions or infectious diseases. The work performance of a Volunteer firefighter is continuously evaluated for general knowledge, skill proficiency, and ability to work as part of a team. Any deficiencies are corrected through remedial training. | Requirements: The Volunteer Firefighter drives or rides an emergency vehicle in response to fire, rescue, and hazardous materials response/mitigation and routine requests for help or assistance. In the performance of their duties, the Volunteer Firefighter places equipment, lays and connects hose; operates high-capacity pumps and directs water streams; raises and climbs ladders; uses chemical extinguishers, safety belts, lines and hooks and uses self-contained breathing apparatus. The Volunteer Firefighter may enter burning buildings as part of a fire suppression team, perform ventilation tasks above ground, carry heavy objects and equipment and rescue injured or trapped victims. The Volunteer FF is required to attend regularly scheduled training in order to maintain the high level of knowledge, skill and ability necessary to function safely and effectively as a firefighter in accordance with State protocols and standard operating procedures. | Categories: Firefighter

At the Farm, you’ll help plant, water, feed, pick and otherwise get the various vegetables, herbs, and flowers we grow ready to get into the hands of neighbors in your community. Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes and dress for the weather.

Staff the library when the Director is unavailable, assisting patrons with checking out books and using library resources. Volunteers will ensure the library operates smoothly during these times.

Assist with organizing and running the Summer Reading Program, engaging with children and encouraging their participation in reading activities. Volunteers will help set up events and interact with participants.

Assist with the Pre-schooler's Reading Hour by helping to organize reading sessions and engage young children in storytelling activities. Volunteers will support the library staff in creating a welcoming environment for children.

Help maintain the library's collection by reading and straightening shelves, repairing books, and ensuring proper shelving of materials. Volunteers will assist in keeping the library organized and accessible.

Assist with library publicity efforts and mailings, helping to promote library events and services. Volunteers will work on creating and distributing promotional materials.

Conclave Performers showcase their fire spinning talents and must register in advance. They attend a safety training and receive special wristbands to ensure safe performances.

Assist with the care and rehabilitation of rescued animals, including feeding, cleaning, and providing companionship. Volunteers may also help with adoption application processing and event planning.

Assist in planning and executing community events. Volunteers will help build community and create a positive impact on local youth through fun and engaging events.
