Pomfret Fire Department is seeking people to join our team of responders to fire, rescue, and medical emergencies in the town of Pomfret, CT. Our department responds to about 320 calls per year in our rural town of 4,200 people which covers 40 square miles. Applications are available on the website www.pomfretfire.org, at the station at 67 Hampton Road next to the Little League Field, or by request at emergencymanagement@pomfretct.org. All training is provided at no charge. We will work with anyone's skills and interests to develop a training path in one or more basic areas of: interior firefighter; exterior firefighter; rescue technician; emergency medical responder (EMT or EMR); truck driver; pump operator; Fire Police/Traffic Direction. Junior members ages 14-18 are welcomed and can serve under certain limitations. We also accept "Associate" members, who don't respond to calls but can assist the department with affiliated operations such as in-house documentation, equipment maintenance, fund raising activities, and public education.
