Scott Firefighters have multiple responsibilities beyond responding to structure, vehicle, and all other types of fires. The SFD also responds to medical emergencies, water rescues, hazardous materials incidents, vehicle crashes with injuries, and all incidents requiring the response of the Fire Department. Scott Volunteer Firefighters also participate heavily in special events and fire prevention education details in the community, such as Festivals, Football games, and other public events. In 2024 the SFD responded to over 1000 calls for service, and that number is ever-rising, each year with the growth of our community. No previous experience? No problem. We provide all the training you need to become a firefighter. You will work hands-on, side by side with trained and certified Firefighters, receiving training and learning the basics to assist and complete the required job tasks. The task you learn will not only help the community but could also aid in helping or saving the life of a loved one, in your non-fire department life. Life as a Scott Volunteer Firefighter is not as time-consuming as most think. The volunteers of the SFD participate in weekly training and online computer-based assignments.
