We are currently accepting firefighter applications for our East Barre and South Barre fire stations. We are a paid/call fire department, meaning we operate like a volunteer fire department but offer an hourly pay for calls. The all-volunteer department covers primary response to The Town of Washington and a portion of the Town of Orange, along with mutual aid responses to neighboring towns. The Department provides fire, emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, and rescue services. Emergency medical services are provided by the First Aid Stabilization Team (FAST) Squad with patient transport provided by Barre Town EMS or First Branch Ambulance (Chelsea). The Washington Fire Department averages 50 calls annually, and FAST Squad averages 125 responses. | Requirements: No previous firefighting or EMS experience is required.
