Orcas Island Fire & Rescue
Orcas Island Fire & Rescue is an all hazards response department which provides emergency services to all of Orcas Island. Our services include EMS, structural and wildland firefighting, technical rescue, search & rescue, and marine response. We are a combined career / volunteer department. Station 21 in Eastsound is staffed 24 hours/day by a paramedic and a firefighter/EMT, plus volunteer duty crew. There are an additional 6 fire stations distributed across the island. OIFR puts on a Firefighter Academy which prepares volunteers to pass the Firefighter 1 certification tests. Once a recruit passes the Firefighter Academy they become full members of the department. We are a small community of neighbors helping neighbors.
