The La Madera Fire District currently has 20 volunteers and we are always looking to add dedicated men and women who want to make a difference in their community. | Requirements: Membership shall be open to all persons, of good character, regardless of race, sex or national origin, who reside or work within the fire district boundaries, or who reside in other communities but within twenty (20) road miles of Station 28. Placitas Garden Tour
Participate in the annual Placitas Garden Tour by assisting as a garden docent, greeter, or in ticketing and parking management. Volunteers are essential to the success of the tour and will receive a free pass to tour the gardens and an invitation to a post-tour reception.

Emergency Medical Technicians-Basic (EMT-B) respond to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, and might transport the patient to a medical facility. Without volunteers, the emergency services, we all rely on, simply would not exist. Maybe being an EMT has never crossed your mind. But the truth is, anyone who is willing to learn and train can do this. If you live in the Madrid Fire District (mandatory requirement), you can become a District Volunteer. You will respond from your home or work to the Fire Station, when an emergency call is received. There are no qualifications required to begin participating in this manner and training will be obtained with weekly training at the Fire Station, the EMT-Class at the Santa Fe Community College and other possibilities. By becoming a Volunteer, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that your time, skills and energies are making a critical difference in our community (often a life-saving difference), but also will be more prepared to help your loved ones, if necessary. The Madrid Fire District in the Santa Fe County Fire Department is currently looking to fill two positions as District Firefighters. Our firefighters protect the community in a wide range of emergency situations. As a firefighter you may be called to deliver fire suppression, emergency medical assistance, rescue, hazardous material responses, and public education to the people living in Madrid and Santa Fe County. Without volunteers, the emergency services, we all rely on, simply would not exist. Maybe being a firefighter or EMT has never crossed your mind. But the truth is, anyone who is willing to learn and train can do this. If you live in the Madrid Fire District, you can become a District Volunteer.
