LOCATION: All fire stations are located in Eden Prairie, MN Station1 (14800 Scenic Heights Road); Station 2 (12100 Sunnybrook Road); Station 3 (7350 Eden Prairie Road): Station 4 (17920 Linwood Court) HOURS: Minimum of 108 hours per quarter of duty-crew shifts; on call 24 hours a day, 7 days per week for general alarm response; regular training sessions and meetings including nights and weekends required. Reporting Relationship: Reports to a Fire Lieutenant FIRE DEPARTMENT The Eden Prairie Fire Department is comprised of four fire stations and a staff of 95 duty crew firefighters and 9 full-time firefighters who protect and serve Eden Prairie residents. We lead and strive to minimize risk, increase safety, and improve the quality of life in our community through education, code compliance and emergency response which is the mission statement of the Fire Department. POSITION DETAILS The duty crew firefighter serves to promote fire education and prevention throughout the community as well as to provide fire suppression and emergency rescue services as needed. This position is primarily responsible for the following areas of impact: 1.Participates in department’s and squad’s work details; makes known to the department’s training division and squad officer any problems at the earliest possible stage. 2.Attends all department-training sessions and drills designated as mandatory by the department’s training division. 3.Participates in prevention activities and safety education. 4.Responds immediately to emergency calls under the close supervision of officers and senior firefighters; performs tasks as directed by an officer on the emergency scene. All Eden Prairie Duty Crew Firefighter Recruits must successfully pass the college-level Fire I, Fire II, and HMO courses and state certifications, as well as college level EMT and national certification in order to become an Eden Prairie Duty Crew Firefighter. •Successfully pass FAO (Fire Apparatus Operator) class and requirements within first four years on the Eden Prairie Fire Department •Must meet department training requirements for training sessions on Thursday for the duration of firefighter career. These training sessions typically occur from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. •Must work a minimum of 108 duty crew shift hours per quarter. Shifts are scheduled for the upcoming month and are based upon seniority. Typical available shifts occur on weekdays from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM or 5:00 AM to 8:00 AM.
