Looking for folks to help a progressive organization in all aspects of the fire-rescue world. We cover approximately 23 square miles protecting around 13'000 residents. Our area is predominately a bed room community with some light industrial mixed in. Mutual aid is provided to communities all around us and into Westmoreland County. We respond to around 350 calls a year including some QRS calls, however most of our calls are vehicle crashes. We currently have a 2002 Pierce Engine, 1996 New Lexington Heavy Rescue (New one on order!), 1976 Mack Baker Aerialscope, 2011 Ford/Brat Mini pumper, 2008 Ford F-250 Utility unit and a trailer carrying a quad and 6x6 Ranger. We are also part of a regional technical rescue team which responds to all over Allegheny County! The Buena Vista VFD is seeking new volunteer Firefighters and/or Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). At the BVVFD we provide fire and rescue services to the residents of Elizabeth Township, and we are 100% volunteer. We also operate a swiftwater rescue team that is called out during flooding or boating emergencies. Training is paid for by the department, and there are several opportunities to complete essential firefighter/ EMT training that can accommodate most schedules. Volunteers inspect, sort, and repackage thousands of pounds of food each week at the Volunteer Engagement Center. This opportunity is essential for distributing food to individuals and families facing food insecurity in the community.

Help prepare, maintain, and harvest organic produce at the Food Bank Orchard. Volunteers can also assist in rescuing fresh food from farms and collecting donations at farmers markets.

Volunteers assist in distributing food directly to community members, helping load cars full of nutritious foods for families and individuals at outdoor events. This hands-on experience allows volunteers to interact with the community.

Volunteers are needed to serve on a committee to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the building's founding in 1926. Responsibilities include planning and organizing events, coordinating with other committee members, and ensuring the celebration's success.
