The Friendship Fire & Hose Co. #1 (Elizabethtown Fire Department) is a busy suburban department that offers a unique live-in firefighter experience for adults. This experience can be particularly valuable for college students or an individual that is looking to have a place to live rent free. In exchange for responding to calls for service, station duties, and training, live-ins reside at the fire station free of charge. We provide 10 private dorm style rooms (each room has a bed, desk, dresser, wardrobe, cable TV and wired/wireless internet access). In addition to these 10 rooms, we also have an "overflow" bunk room that can sleep an additional 6 personnel. Along with free room-and-board, EFD also offers a variety of other incentives for your time and dedication. EFD is a busy suburban department that respond to 750 calls annually. EFD's operational personnel are some of the highest trained and well respected volunteers in the area. To keep an entity such as EFD operating smoothly and seamlessly, it takes an equal number of Supportive Services (Social Support) members. EFD is actively seeking Social Support Members to assist with the daily operations of the department. These key roles include administrative functions (president, secretary, etc), fund raising, scheduling, technology support, fire prevention delivery and many more. The Friendship Fire & Hose Co. No 1 (Elizabethtown Fire Department) is seeking candidates for our Junior Firefighter Program. This program is a great way for persons under the age of 18 to be introduced to the fire service and begin to learn that basics of firefighting. The program also introduces junior firefighters to the fire department family and helps to build strong bonds that will last a life time. Junior Firefighters at EFD are provided with gear, uniforms and free training. Junior Firefighters are expected to attend trainings when available and respond to calls as their schedule permits. EFD is 100% committed to ensuring that junior firefighters make school a priority while exposing them to a variety of aspects of the fire service. Junior firefighters are also eligible to assist with fire prevention and fund raising details.
