The Frankfort City Fire & Rescue Department is a dynamic group of individuals who care about each other and their community. In short, we are a family. We treat each other with dignity and respect, that's not to say we don't banter with each other every once in a while, but like family, we eat together and stay together. In September we will be presenting a resolution to City Council establishing a Firefighter Cadet program for 15-17 year olds. Our goal is to encourage some of the youth from our local school to join the department and be mentored into the fire and EMS professions. If you are interested in joining a team that is family oriented and focused. We encourage you to apply. The Frankfort Fire Department is currently a paid-on-call department with On-Duty hours for firefighter/Emergency Medical Responders (Medical First Responders). Our vision for the future includes the transition into a combination department with both full-time and paid-on-call personnel. | Requirements: If you are applying as a Cadet, you must be between the ages of 15-17 and maintain a grade average of a "C" or better. There is a packet that must be filled out by a parent or legal guardian and certain rules and expectations that must be kept and maintained throughout the program. If successfully completed, you will become a state-certified firefighter when you turn 18. If you are already 18 years old, you must be physically fit and have a clean driving record. After your application has been completed, a background check will be performed and you will will be enrolled at the departments expense into a fire academy and later into either a Medical First Responder or EMT class.
