The Fairview Fire Department is always looking for male or female volunteers to join our department. You must be 18 years of age and live within a 5 mile radius of Fairview to join the Fire Department. The Fairview Fire Department consists of 3 Engine companies, 1 Truck company and 1 Rescue company. Volunteer firefighters are expected to be on call to respond to emergency calls for long periods of time, and are summoned to the fire station when their services are needed. They are also expected to attend other non-emergency duties as well (training, fundraising, town events, department events and equipment maintenance, etc.). The Fairview Volunteer Fire Department values diversity in the workplace. Men and women of all ages, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, religious and political affiliation, and national origin, all are encouraged to apply. Anyone interested may fill out the survey below and we will contact you as soon as possible. | Requirements: Must be 18 years of age or older Must obtain a valid NJ's Drivers License Must live within 5 miles radius of Fairview Also acceptable nearby towns for applicant's: Union City West New York Guttenberg North Bergen No prior experience necessary. However down the road, all members of the Fairview Fire Department must attend a State Certified Fire Academy and complete the Firefighter I Course. All active members of the department also attend continuing education courses, including Firefighting Safety, Firefighter II, CPR, and the Incident Command System (ICS-100 to 800). Department members continue to attend in-house hands-on training such as Vehicle Extraction, Driver's Training, and Engine Operations to expand their knowledge and keep abreast of new trends. | Categories: Firefighter
