We run out of one station covering around 59 square miles. We provide mutual aid to the surrounding areas which are also E.S.D.’s and county departments that run with volunteer firefighters. We are currently accepting applications for volunteer positions. Below are the minimum and preferred qualifications for both positions. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Ability to abide by all rules, regulations, policies and procedures set forth by Saint Hedwig Fire Department and E.S.D 12; ability to make decisions during emotional and stressful situations; ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally; knowledgeable of codes and laws related to fire suppression and the delivery of emergency medical care; knowledgeable of basic firefighting techniques and emergency medical techniques and operations. | Requirements: - Must have a school diploma or GED. - Must pass a criminal background check & reference check - Must pass a drug screen - Must be willing to commit a Monday or Saturday of training & (48) hours of station coverage per month in addition to answering calls or back filling station. - Department will be welling to also pay for you to get certifications if you volunteer your time back to us.
