St. Tammany Fire Protection District #5 serves the northwestern corner of St. Tammany Parish, including the Village of Folsom and surrounding areas. We are a combination fire department staffed with full-time, part-time and volunteer firefighters who respond to emergencies including fires, medicals, rescues, motor vehicle crashes, hazardous materials releases, and many many more. STFD5 is always looking for new members to help bolster our response to emergencies in our community. We will provide the training and equipment necessary to accomplish this task. Attend and/or speak in support of the rivers at public hearings. Volunteers will represent Northshore Riverwatch and advocate for sustainable river management practices.

Contribute writing and photography skills to support Northshore Riverwatch's advocacy and communication efforts. Volunteers will create content for newsletters, social media, and other platforms.

Help organize events to support the advocacy goals of Northshore Riverwatch. Volunteers will assist in planning, coordinating, and executing events aimed at raising awareness and support for river conservation efforts.

Participate in a water assessment and testing program. Volunteers will assist in collecting and analyzing water samples to monitor river health and support conservation efforts.

Volunteers set up a table for demonstration and/or distribution of educational materials on topics like beekeeping, hummingbirds, native plants, and composting at various events.

Volunteers research, write, and present horticultural talks for the community, garden groups, STP libraries, and the organization's general membership.

Unified Partners train and compete as teammates alongside Special Olympics athletes on a Unified Sports Team. This role combines a love of sports with the rewards of volunteer service.

Volunteers field questions and offer LSU Ag Center contact information, printed materials such as planting guides, monthly suggestions, soil test boxes, and STMGA class information at the Covington Farmers Market.
