Monroe County Emergency Services
We are looking for service-minded citizens of Monroe County, GA to help when their neighbors call. Volunteering in the United States is a part of what makes our country so great. In 1736 Ben Franklin started the first volunteer fire company in Philadelphia, the tradition of neighbors helping neighbors still continues today. Monroe County Emergency Services is a combination department in Central Georgia covering 398 sq miles. We have 13 stations strategically located throughout the county to best serve the thousands who travel I-75, many state highways, and a very rural community that call Monroe County home. This country was founded using volunteer firefighters and their skills and dedication to their communities are still needed today. Monroe County Emergency Services will train you to be a Georgia volunteer firefighter with opportunities to advance to a State of Georgia Certified Firefighter as well as an Emergency Medical Responder or Emergency Medical Technician. MCES looks forward to welcoming local citizens into this realm of public safety! We offer all the training required by the State of Georgia, uniforms, and turn-our gear. While most of our volunteers maintain their respective careers while still answering the call for help, many have turned this passion into a career. | Requirements: Persons interested in becoming a volunteer must meet the following criteria: Must be at least 18 years of age. Not been convicted of a felony in any jurisdiction within ten years prior to employment/appointment. Have a good moral character as determined by investigation under a procedure approved by the Director. Pass an extensive background check including drug testing, criminal history, and driving history. Be in good physical condition as determined by a medical examination and successfully pass the minimum physical agility requirements as established by MCES. Possess a high school diploma or a general education development equivalency. Complete the Georgia Basic Firefighter Training Course approved by the Council and verified by successful completion of the State Firefighter Certification Test. Possess a valid Georgia Driver's License. Please use the link provided to complete the Volunteer Application so that we can schedule an interview. Requirements of our volunteers are that they have a deep understanding that our organization is one in which integrity is paramount. Our reputation is directly related to the code of conduct displayed by each of our members. Our members deal directly with the public and it is important that they be concerned for the safety and welfare of the public at all times. Therefore, please be aware that we will thoroughly scrutinize the information that you provide on the membership application.
