We service the share the southern boundary with the City of Tyler and service a rapidly growing community. | Requirements: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and in good physical condition. You must be able to pass a physical exam, drug screening and a physical agility test. In addition, you will be required to submit to a criminal background check. These exams are given AT NO COST TO THE APPLICANT. Upon acceptance, the new member will spend the first 6 months as a probationary member, attending regular meetings and training sessions in order to learn the basics of fire fighting. This training is provided at no cost to the member. Upon completion of the basic required courses, the member will be eligible to receive further training in such fire related qualifications as SFFMA Introductory Firefighter, Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Confined Space & Technical Rescue, HazMat, Rapid Intervention, and CPR / AED, just to name a few. Our training is extensive and ongoing. In addition to training, members participate in various drills each month. Noonday is a small town just south of Tyler, Texas. Noonday fire department protects a large area in the southern part of smith county, including parts of lake Palestine. The department consists of two paid personnel that work Monday though Friday from 8:00A.M. to 5:00P.M., as well as 22 volunteers. Noonday Fire Department is a very active and progressive fire department that averages roughly 90 calls per month. Noonday is currently searching for more members to volunteer in the community. The Volunteer Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician (Volunteer FF/EMT) serves the community by responding to a wide variety of situations, ranging from emergencies that immediately threaten life or property to routine citizen requests for assistance. They perform within the scope of the policies and procedures of Chandler V.F.D. and Rescue. The Volunteer Firefighter perform duties in the following general categories: fire suppression, emergency medical aid or rescue, hazardous material responses, training, and public education. The Volunteer Firefighter normally works under the supervision of a company officer and is expected to function effectively as part of a highly trained team. They are also expected to perform their duties under adverse conditions and physical conditions that may pose a high risk of personal injury or exposure to hazardous conditions or infectious diseases. The Volunteer Firefighter is required to attend regularly scheduled training in order to maintain the high level of knowledge, skill and ability necessary to function safely and effectively as a firefighter. The work performance of a Volunteer firefighter is continuously evaluated for general knowledge, skill proficiency, and ability to work as part of a team. | Requirements: Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions using the English language. • Maintain physical conditioning necessary to perform efficiently in emergency situations; meet medical and physical agility standards as established. • Learn the geography of the District, the location of important buildings and the street system. • Participate in training drills; attend school and classes on fire fighting, hydraulics, first aid and emergency medicine, fire equipment, and apparatus, and other classes associated with recognized fire fighter and EMT standards. • Learn and apply technical information pertaining to fire fighting. • Analyze and cope with a variety of emergency situations calmly but effectively and to react quickly to secure accurate and precise information on the location, extent, and nature of fires and emergency aid requests. • Sustain heavy physical labor during periods of intense activity in emergency situations; to work at varying heights above grade. • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public; to work effectively as a team member. • Perform necessary maintenance, testing and care of fire hoses, trucks, ladders, and auxiliary equipment and apparatus. • Maintain necessary records and reports, incident forms, and including computer data | Categories: Firefighter, EMT
