Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department is located 42 miles east of Chicago in Porter County between Chesterton and Valparaiso. Established in 1955, we provide Fire, Rescue and BLS protection to over 15,000 residents and 39 square miles. Our largely rural district includes the drastically growing Liberty Township and half of Jackson Township under contract. Our response area includes portions of the East/West Toll Road, a near 5 mile stretch of State Road 49,and over 10 miles of US Route 6. Over the last 5 years,the department has ran an average of 745 calls.
