If you enjoy working with children and sharing your love of nature, consider becoming an education volunteer at Rogers Center. You don’t need to be an expert at identifying trees and birds; you do need to have a curious mind, a positive mindset, and compassion for learners of all abilities.

Throughout the year, Rogers Center hosts a few large events. Event volunteers help with set up, take down, parking, visitor interactions, running activities, manning booths, serving coffee, and more. Events like the Winter Living Celebration and Animals of Halloween are simply not possible without our volunteers.

From trimming back branches to digging out beaver dams, if you enjoy working outdoors with your hands, you might feel right at home as one of our trail crew volunteers. Self-starters excel in this position, and you know your work will be appreciated.

If you have top-notch administrative or technical skills, or even if you just enjoy meeting people, you might be interested in volunteering in our office and/or gift shop. Weekend volunteers are invaluable to our small staff, and we can always use an extra pair of hands in the office.

The Manlius Fire Department is located 5 miles east of the City of Syracuse in the heart of Central New York. Operating two stations, the Manlius Fire Department provides Fire and Emergency Medical Services to the Village of Manlius, the Town of Manlius and the Town of Pompey. The Fire Department covers approximately 27 square miles of both residential, commercial and agricultural properties. The "Department" consists of four separate entities. The "Fire Department" is owned by the village. Since 1813 volunteers have been providing, and continue to provide, service to our community. In 1987, with the exodus of industry and commercial operations in the village, the first career fireman was hired to ensure an apparatus operator or emt for daytime response. The number of career has grown to 12, mainly to again ensure daytime response. | Requirements: Manlius Fire/EMS is a very progressive, professional, and family-oriented department. Here is what you should think about as you consider applying: •You will fill out an application, your background will be checked, you will be interviewed by Department representatives and, if recommended, approved by the Village of Manlius Board of Trustees and the Manlius Volunteer Fire Company. •You will be required to attend a Department orientation soon after you're accepted. •You will be asked what area most interests you (fire or EMS) and assigned a mentor who has experience with the Department. •You will be expected to move along in a progression to realize your goals and to develop skills you can use as a Department volunteer. •Though you won't be receiving gear or uniforms until later, upon entry you will be issued a Department T-shirt which will identify you as an active, probationary recruit. •You will be on probation for six months at which point the membership will vote to continue or terminate your membership in the Department. •You should be prepared to spend one to two years taking classes and dedicating time to observing and responding. EMT classes, apparatus operation classes, and firefighter classes all take time and intense training. •Fire side members are required to serve a total of 12 hours in the station or 24 hours from home if in district weekly. •EMS members are required to serve a total of 6 hours in the station weekly. •All training and uniforms/gear are provided at no cost to you. New members are always in demand to fill the positions of volunteer firefighter or Emergency Medical Technician. | Requirements: 1. Live within the Sullivan Fire District No.1 or one of it's fire protection areas. This includes the Village of Chittenango and parts of the Town of Sullivan and Town of Fenner. 2. New members are expected to complete basic recruit training within their first year, if the course is available. All fire and EMT training is provided free of charge. 3. Participate in fire company business meetings, fundraisers, work details and social functions, including the annual banquet and picnic.\ 4.
