The Glyndon Fire & Rescue Family are looking for men and women who are willing to be challenged and want to become a firefighter and/or emergency medical responder. Make new friends and learn new skills all while having the pride and satisfaction of being able to make a difference in our community. Firefighters/medical responders are paid per call. All training and equipment is provided. Please feel free to join us for an evening meeting or contact us by email. | Requirements: Recruits must be at least 18 years old and have a valid drivers license. All training and equipment will be provided. Firefighter 1 certification is the minimum required and must be completed within 2 years of joining. Classes are taught by the local technical college. Medical personnel must complete, at minimum, the Emergency Medical Responder course. Many of our personnel complete both. We will provide you with the training needed to meet the state requirements What is expected of you….? As a new member of the GFD you would be asked to complete the minimum mandatory training required by the State of Minnesota. To attend 50% of monthly meetings held the first and 3rd Monday of each month. Respond to 33% of emergency incidents dispatched. Types of Emergencies We respond to many different types of incidents, some examples are: Vehicle / Auto Accidents Vehicle Fires Structure / House Fires Hazardous Materials Leaks / Spills EMS / Medical | Requirements: Complete a basic firefighting class of approximately 100 hours before being able to fight fires. Firefighters also must attend federally mandated annual hazardous materials training, which can range from 10 to 25 hours. Although re-certification is not as time-demanding as the initial training, it is another demand that volunteers must fit into their busy schedules. | Categories: Firefighter, EMT
