Job Description: Responsible to operate ambulance in safe manner according to all NYS and GVRS regulations. Must adhere to all policies and procedures while on duty or assigned call. Reports to EMS Chief or Crew Chief. • General Requirements of all personnel apply • Responsible for the checking of vehicle, equipment, and supplies according to policy at the start of each shift with other assigned personnel as indicated • Checks emergency vehicle for safety of operation, as tires, emergency lights, siren or routine maintenance as part of Daily Vehicle Check. • Receives call from Dispatch, verbally acknowledges the call and drives safely to the emergency location, either by ambulance (if applicable) or by private vehicle • Maintains ambulance in operable condition and reports problems as soon as possible • Cleans exterior of the ambulance as needed • Cleans the passenger / patient compartment of the ambulance as needed • Records and maintains continual vehicle check log or sheet as indicated by policy • Assist or coordinates scene safety assessment for placement and securing of vehicle and crew • Assist at scene of an emergency with gathering of equipment, lifting and moving or rescue operations • Assist in operations of stretchers, stair chairs or other patient carrying devices and loading of patients • Provides assistance in removing the patient from the ambulance and into the emergency department • Replaces Fuel after each call or as designated by policy • Complete any and other duties as assigned by EMS Crew Chief. • Functions as a team member within the emergency crew | Requirements: Qualifications: • 18 / 21 years of Age • Valid NYS Drives License with a DMV record acceptable to GVRS Insurance Carrier • Emergency Vehicle Operating Course within 1 year of membership or when offered. • Professional or Healthcare Provider CPR certification within 1 year of membership. | Categories: EMT
