Volunteers assist with organizing and participating in adoption and fundraising events. Duties include setting up events, engaging with the public, and promoting the organization's mission.

Provide temporary care for pets from a few days to two weeks. M4M supplies food, crates, and veterinary care while you provide a loving home.

Drive pets to and from vet appointments locally and assist with transport to Hagerstown, MD on Saturdays. M4M provides crates and gas reimbursement.

Photograph and video pets to promote them for adoption. Training on how to temperament test pets is provided.

Assist with morning kennel and litter box cleaning and provide socialization for cats throughout the day at PetSmart.

Assist in spreading awareness about biking safety, infrastructure improvements, and organizational initiatives. Volunteers will engage with the community to promote biking as a safe and viable transportation option.

Help organize and execute community events, workshops, and rides. Volunteers will assist in planning and managing events to promote biking and community engagement.

Join us on Tuesdays and Sundays at 918 Fortney St to assist with bike repair, maintenance, and cleaning. Volunteers will work alongside knowledgeable members to learn and share skills in bike maintenance.

River Road Fire-Rescue Department is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Volunteer Firefighters. As a vital part of our community's emergency response system, Volunteer Firefighters protect lives and property during fires, accidents, and other emergencies. This volunteer position offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact, gain valuable skills, and contribute to the safety and well-being of our community. Responsibilities: Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency calls for fires, accidents, and other incidents. Work collaboratively with fellow firefighters to mitigate emergencies and protect lives and property. Training and Development: Attend regular training sessions to maintain and enhance firefighting skills, knowledge of equipment, and familiarity with emergency procedures. Stay current with industry best practices and department policies. Equipment Maintenance: Participate in routine equipment checks, and maintenance, and ensure that firefighting tools and apparatus are in proper working order. Report any issues to the appropriate authority. Community Outreach: Engage with the community to promote fire safety awareness. Participate in public events, demonstrations, and educational programs to educate the public on fire prevention and safety measures. Team Collaboration: Work as part of a cohesive team, following orders from superiors and coordinating with other emergency services when necessary. Foster a positive and supportive team environment. Availability: When available respond promptly to emergency calls. Maintain a level of physical fitness to meet the demands of the role. | Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent. Must speak English. Physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous tasks in challenging environments if an Interior Firefighter is desired. Volunteers are needed to help care for cats that stay in the kitty condos weekly at Pet Works in Morgantown. Responsibilities include feeding, cleaning, and socializing with the cats to ensure their well-being.

• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions using the English language. • Maintain physical conditioning necessary to perform efficiently in emergency situations; meet medical and physical agility standards as established. • Learn the geography of the District, the location of important buildings and the street system. • Participate in training drills; attend school and classes on fire fighting, hydraulics, first aid and emergency medicine, fire equipment, and apparatus, and other classes associated with recognized firefighter and/or EMT standards. • Learn and apply technical information pertaining to fire fighting. • Assist in performing protective inspections of structures and businesses in the community for fire hazards and pre-incident surveys for tactical planning. • Assist in conducting fire-safety education classes. • Analyze and cope with a variety of emergency situations calmly but effectively and to react quickly to secure accurate and precise information on the location, extent, and nature of fires and emergency aid requests. • Sustain heavy physical labor during periods of intense activity in emergency situations; to work at varying heights above grade. • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public; to work effectively as a team member. • Perform necessary maintenance, testing and care of fire hoses, trucks, ladders, and auxiliary equipment and apparatus. • Perform community service activities. | Requirements: Must be at least 16 years old with valid driver's license.
