The Volunteer Firefighter serves the community by responding to a wide variety of situations, ranging from emergencies that immediately threaten life or property to routine citizen requests for information or assistance. They perform within the scope of the policies and procedures of the Camp Hill Fire Company No. 1 and they perform duties in the following general categories: fire suppression, emergency medical aid or rescue, hazardous material responses, training, building inspections and public education. This experience can be particularly valuable for college students or an individual that is looking to have a place to live rent free. In exchange for responding to calls for service, station duties, and training, live-ins reside at the fire station free of charge. We provide 10 private dorm style rooms (each room has a bed, desk, dresser, wardrobe, cable TV and wired/wireless internet access). Friendship Fire & Hose Co #1
The Friendship Fire & Hose Co. No 1 (Elizabethtown Fire Department) is a busy suburban volunteer fire department that responds to 750 calls for service annually. To do this, we rely on a combination of firefighters that live-in the station as well as personnel that respond to the station from home. Home Responders are provided with gear, uniforms and free training in exchange for responding to a minimum number of calls and meeting training standards. All firefighters are eligible for the department's annual incentive program as well as tuition assistance for higher education. Other amenities offered to our members: access to our day room (lounge) that is equipped with plush recliners, reclining sofa, big screen TV, surround sound, separate big screen gaming TV and a pool table; access to our in-house gym that holds state-of-the-art commercial quality free-weight, cardio and kick-boxing equipment.
