This includes providing ladder stabilization, getting tools and equipment for fire fighting efforts, and other fire ground operations. Although certification is not required for this position, the regional fire training school offers a certificate program for Exterior Firefighters, consisting of attending and completing 85 hours of training over 20 weeks. Assist in developing fundraising strategies and initiatives, including grant writing, donor outreach, and community fundraising efforts.

This program is designed for youth aged 12-18 who want to help care for dogs and facilities. Responsibilities include cleaning kennels, grooming dogs, and exercising them during weekend shifts.

Organize fundraising events, community workshops, and awareness campaigns to support the mission of Reborn Animal Rescue. This role involves creativity and strong organizational skills.

Oversee volunteer recruitment, training, and scheduling to ensure that all positions are filled and volunteers are supported. This role is crucial for maintaining a well-organized volunteer program.

Research and write grants to secure funding for the facility and its programs, helping ensure the long-term sustainability of the initiative.

Volunteers in the Nursery Team open their homes to care for puppies that are ready to begin their training as service dogs. This involves nurturing and socializing the puppies to prepare them for their future roles.

Organizes the planning and execution of foster homes and home visits. Tasks may include matching animals with suitable foster homes, coordinating meet-and-greets, and organizing transportation.

Manage social media accounts, create content, and help promote events and fundraising campaigns to raise awareness and attract donations.

This program allows volunteers to take a dog home on a part-time basis to help teach proper house manners, socialize the dogs, and reinforce basic obedience skills. Volunteers can enjoy the companionship of a dog while contributing to its training.

Build partnerships with local organizations, shelters, and mental health services to create a strong support network for individuals in need.

Assist with day-to-day administrative tasks, including managing correspondence, data entry, and organizing files related to the initiative.

Volunteers can help by developing fundraising ideas, organizing events, serving on committees, and finding sponsors. Additional tasks include writing grants, distributing posters, and helping with special events.

Volunteers are needed to perform daily duties including feeding, cleaning cages and litter boxes, sweeping the floor, washing, and folding laundry. Volunteers will also socialize, play, and snuggle with the cats once chores are completed.

Join a team of trained docents to give tours of the Chase Cottage, supporting DEEP in offering more frequent tours. Volunteers help prepare the house for visitors each spring and close it in late autumn.

Assist in organizing and hosting educational programs at Topsmead. Volunteers help arrange lectures on local wildlife, ecology, and history, and engage with experts to present a range of topics to the public.

Assist in maintaining the Orintas Family Butterfly Garden by weeding, watering, and tending to native flowers and plants. Volunteers work weekly to ensure the garden remains a vibrant habitat for pollinators and a beautiful spot for visitors.

Participate in maintaining and enhancing the Edith Morton Chase Ecology Trail. Volunteers help update trail guides and ensure the trail highlights the diverse environments and ecology of Topsmead.

Help refurbish and maintain the Songbird Trail by tending to nesting boxes and repairing winter damage. Volunteers monitor the trail and contribute data to support Bluebird population renewal efforts in Connecticut.
