Greater Manassas Volunteer Rescue Squad
The Greater Manassas Volunteer Rescue Squad (GMVRS), established in 1966, and located at 9322 Center Street, Manassas, VA, is an integral part of the City of Manassas Fire and Rescue System. Squad members staff BLS and ALS ambulances, depending the providers’ certifications and release by our Medical Director. Units are staffed primarily on weekends, week nights and holidays. Applicants for our Senior Squad need not have EMS certifications to join. New members will be provided all the training needed to become certified as an EMT Basic on the National Registry, as well as other credentials necessary to precept to become a BLS provider within our System. Training will be provided at the Squad's expense. Applicants who become members and are already certified a EMT-B and EMT-I or P, are welcome and will be able to precept to become BLS or ALS providers much quicker. The GMVRS also accepts applications for its Junior Squad, where applicants must be enrolled in school and at least 16 years old. Junior Squad members are provided the same training opportunities. Our Auxiliary Squad, which provides morale and financial support to the GMVRS, is also accepting applications. All costs associated with these activities will be at no cost to the applicant.
