Adult volunteers are needed to assist with various tasks at the food bank every Monday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and every Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Responsibilities include sorting and distributing food items, organizing pantry shelves, and assisting clients.

High school juniors and seniors are invited to volunteer every Tuesday from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Volunteers will help with food distribution, organizing donations, and assisting with pantry operations. A waiver form must be completed and returned during the volunteer shift.

Volunteers assist with organizing and running fundraising events, adoptions, and special events. Responsibilities include setting up, managing logistics, and engaging with the community to promote the rescue's mission.

Transport volunteers help by driving animals to and from foster homes, veterinary appointments, and adoption events. Volunteers must ensure the safe and comfortable transport of animals.

Foster volunteers provide temporary homes for dogs, cats, kittens, birds, and small animals. Volunteers are responsible for caring for the animals, which includes feeding, socializing, and providing a safe environment until they are adopted.

Support the summer Farm Fresh Kids Program by offering young children fun outdoor activities and lessons about gardening and nature. Volunteers can help for one week or more, with sessions held in the mornings.

Join a team of volunteers to plant crops, maintain fields, and harvest produce. Flexible hours are available, and every volunteer helps us reach our goal of donating to local food banks and supporting our CSA.

The Volunteer Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician (Volunteer FF/EMT) serves the community by responding to a wide variety of situations, ranging from emergencies that immediately threaten life or property to routine citizen requests for information or assistance. They perform within the scope of the policies and procedures of Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue and they perform duties in the following general categories: fire suppression, emergency medical aid or rescue, hazardous material responses, training, building inspections and public education. The Volunteer FF/EMT normally works under the supervision of a company officer and is expected to function effectively as part of a highly trained team. They are also expected to perform their duties under adverse conditions and physical conditions that may pose a high risk of personal injury or exposure to hazardous conditions or infectious diseases. The Volunteer FF/EMT is required to attend regularly scheduled training in order to maintain the high level of knowledge, skill and ability necessary to function safely and effectively as a firefighter and EMS provider in accordance with state law, county protocols, and standard operating procedures. The work performance of a Volunteer firefighter/EMT is continuously evaluated for general knowledge, skill proficiency, and ability to work as part of a team. Any deficiencies are corrected through remedial training. | Requirements: Making the decision to become a volunteer firefighter should not be taken lightly. Assist in the maintenance and enhancement of over 30 miles of trails in Vernon, CT. Responsibilities include clearing debris, repairing trail surfaces, and ensuring trails are safe and accessible for public use.

A Firefighter performs firefighting duties in response to emergent (fire, rescue, and hazardous materials) and related non-emergent situations. Performs routine maintenance of Department buildings, apparatus and equipment to ensure operational safety and effectiveness. | Requirements: Pass a medical examination annually, including a respiratory test. Work for long periods of time, which require sustained physical activity and keen concentration. Perform a variety of tasks, including lifting heavy objects, on slippery, hazardous surfaces, such as rooftops, ladders, and steep grades.
