The Monroe Township Fire Department, established in 1949 is a volunteer organization committed to serving the citizens of Henryville and Underwood of Monroe Township in northern Clark County, Indiana. We provide fire suppression, vehicle rescue, EMT/First-Responder services, swift water rescue, and rope rescue. Additionally, we serve the community by hosting events, participating in fire prevention and youth education, school tours and demonstrations, boy scout tours and demonstrations, and we are available 24/7 to assist our citizens in any way possible. | Requirements: Thank you for your interest in volunteering to serve your community. Volunteers participate in various service activities to improve Charlestown State Park. Responsibilities include trail maintenance, park beautification, and assisting with events. Volunteers help preserve the natural and cultural resources of the park.

Volunteers will assist in various tasks such as arts and crafts, fundraising, public relations, and more to support pediatric cancer patients. Volunteers must agree to a background check, maintain confidentiality, and respect the privacy of children they may come in contact with.

Assist at the new Humane Society Adoption Center by socializing cats, helping with adoptions, and feeding the cats. Volunteers can contribute one evening a week or month.

Help with paperwork and administrative tasks to support the operations of the Humane Society of Scott County, IN.

Provide a temporary home for adoptable dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens, ensuring they have a secure haven until they can be adopted into forever homes or transported to rescue groups. The organization provides food, supplies, and medical care, while volunteers provide love, attention, and socialization.

Join the Fund-Raising Committee to support the organization's mission through bake sales, annual garage sales, grant writing, and other fundraising activities.

Assist in presenting programs on pet care and the importance of spaying/neutering to various schools in the community.

Assist at adoption fairs held nearly every Saturday by helping screen prospective adopters, walking pets, and performing various other duties necessary for the event.

Help transport animals to rescue groups in various states, ensuring they have the chance to find good homes. Volunteers can drive or co-pilot, using a 15 Passenger Cargo Size Van or smaller vehicles for shorter runs.

POSITION SUMMARY The Firefighter’s role is to protect life and property through firefighting and EMS activities often performed under conditions which require strenuous physical exertion. Major elements of a Firefighter's work are the participation in company inspection activities performed by fire companies, supervised drills, and training in firefighting and EMS skills. Some time is spent in special and routine maintenance of equipment and apparatus and routine care of buildings and grounds, as well as public education activities. Work at the fire station and scenes of fires, is normally performed under close supervision in accordance with well defined procedures, and is inspected in process and upon completion by a Company Officer. Occasionally, members in this position may be required to relieve a position of higher rank and when so assigned, are responsible for the management of all company programs and the supervision of assigned personnel and equipment at the scene of the fire until relieved of command by an officer of higher rank. Firefighters may be assigned to work on special assignments which call for special abilities and knowledge attained through experience and training. Get in Gear-Volunteer! Being a volunteer firefighter offers rewards few others can match. It takes a special person to fill the boots of a volunteer firefighter. That’s why we need people with a strong desire to help others, and people with the courage and dedication to do the job. Because the job is so important, we make sure that all of our firefighters are expertly trained and properly equipped to get the job done. Our volunteers have many occupations. We have members who are executives, police officers, nurses, business owners, landscapers, lawyers, factory workers, and many more. We have male and female members. Our members do not have to be a certain type of person, they just have to want to serve others. We are a volunteer department with an ALL volunteer Staff. We respond to many different types of incidents, some examples are: Vehicle accidents/vehicle fires, Structure fires, Hazardous Material leaks/spills, Water Rescues, Trench Rescues, Collapse Rescues, 1st Responder Medical Assists. Assist in maintaining the Paintbox Garden, a vibrant oasis of color inspired by Color Theory. Volunteers will help with planting, succession planting, and ensuring blooms from Spring to Autumn, while also supporting pollinator-friendly practices.

Provide a temporary home for Bengal cats in need of care until they are adopted. Volunteers will be responsible for daily care, feeding, and socialization of the cats.

Assist in transporting Bengal cats to their new homes or foster families across the Great Lakes region. Volunteers will be responsible for ensuring the safe and comfortable travel of the cats.
