POSITION SUMMARY The Firefighter’s role is to protect life and property through firefighting and EMS activities often performed under conditions which require strenuous physical exertion. Major elements of a Firefighter's work are the participation in company inspection activities performed by fire companies, supervised drills, and training in firefighting and EMS skills. Some time is spent in special and routine maintenance of equipment and apparatus and routine care of buildings and grounds, as well as public education activities. Work at the fire station and scenes of fires, is normally performed under close supervision in accordance with well defined procedures, and is inspected in process and upon completion by a Company Officer. Occasionally, members in this position may be required to relieve a position of higher rank and when so assigned, are responsible for the management of all company programs and the supervision of assigned personnel and equipment at the scene of the fire until relieved of command by an officer of higher rank. Get in Gear-Volunteer! Being a volunteer firefighter offers rewards few others can match. It takes a special person to fill the boots of a volunteer firefighter. That’s why we need people with a strong desire to help others, and people with the courage and dedication to do the job. Because the job is so important, we make sure that all of our firefighters are expertly trained and properly equipped to get the job done. Our volunteers have many occupations. We have members who are executives, police officers, nurses, business owners, landscapers, lawyers, factory workers, and many more. We have male and female members. Our members do not have to be a certain type of person, they just have to want to serve others. We are a volunteer department with an ALL volunteer Staff. We respond to many different types of incidents, some examples are: Vehicle accidents/vehicle fires, Structure fires, Hazardous Material leaks/spills, Water Rescues, Trench Rescues, Collapse Rescues, 1st Responder Medical Assists. We average 750 runs a year. Benefits Free Training-there is no experience required! We train you at no cost to you. All fire gear, safety equipment is provided at no cost to you.
