As a volunteer firefighter, your duties are to educate the community on fire prevention and to respond to fire and medical related emergencies. Our firefighters support the fire department in all activities including emergency response, fundraising, maintenance, and other special events. Upon approval of the application and background check, an interview with the Department Chiefs will be scheduled. Candidates successfully passing the interview will be given 60 days to schedule and complete a physical through Work Right at the Duluth Clinic. After the results of the physical have been received and approved, a department agility test will be given. When these steps have been successfully completed, the Fire Chief will notify the candidate of his or her approval to begin the probationary process.
