Every day, Firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians throughout our country are protecting lives and property. Our fire department responds to all kinds of emergency situations each year. On fire calls, our firefighters are prepared with personal protective equipment, communications equipment, thermal imaging equipment, etc. All of this equipment combined with the proper training allows our firefighters to safely and effectively perform their duties in emergency situations. Not only will you contain fire situations and get to assist in emergency medical calls, but you will also mitigate automobile accidents and utility emergencies. You may help in flooding situations, mass casualty incidentts and other emergencys. If you are someone who is interested in serving the Highland Falls Fire Department, who is interested in making new friends and lifetime bonds, or just looking to make a meaningful difference in the community, then this job may be for you. Promote and support the goals and activities of The Center using your time, talents, and resources to spread the word about the activities and needs of The Center.

Develop and implement a program, course, or share a skill with a specific target audience. Must be approved by the Executive Director and/or the Board of Directors.

Greet visitors, program participants, and providers; document visitors using a sign-in book; respond to questions and document inquiries; maintain a clean appearance of tables, chairs, and floors, and empty trash as needed; offer refreshments when available and hand out program calendars.

Support HHLT staff during outreach programs and special events by engaging with the community and promoting conservation efforts.

Participate in hands-on outdoor projects such as trail maintenance or invasive species removal. These opportunities are available on a limited, as-needed basis and involve physical outdoor work.

Volunteers assist with various tasks at Boscobel, including event support, guided tours, and educational programs. Volunteers help maintain the beauty and accessibility of the grounds and support community outreach efforts.

Help maintain the historic gardens of Constitution Island by working in Anna B. Warner’s perennial Walkway and Herb gardens. Volunteers of all ages are welcome to join on Wednesdays to maintain the flowers and pull weeds.

Lead tours of the Revolutionary War fortifications and the Warner House for school children, the general public, and special interest groups. Docents are responsible for learning the material in the Volunteers Manual and presenting informative tours.

Volunteers assist in distributing food to about 175 families on Saturday mornings. Volunteers are asked to arrive by 8:30am and stay until closing, participating in an orientation to learn more about the pantry.

Assist in removing invasive species to help restore native habitats in the Hudson Highlands. Volunteers will learn about local ecology and conservation techniques.

Our end of season 5K provides a tangible sense of accomplishment to participants. To celebrate and make the experience one to remember, there are many opportunities to get involved, including registration, medal station, water station, cheer groups, and running buddy opportunities.
