Coffeen Volunteer Fire Department is seeking individuals that are willing to serve their community as firefighters, emergency medical responders, or emergency medical technicians. We rely on a diverse and robust membership to ensure that we can serve the residents of the Coffeen Fire Protection District and surrounding areas. Coffeen Fire Department responds to 100+ incidents annually, including structure and wildland fires, emergency medical services, automobile incidents, and mutual aid. | Requirements: All new members must between the ages of eighteen (18) and fifty-five (55). Applicants must live within or in close proximity to the Coffeen Fire Protection District. Applicants must have resided in their residents for a least six (6) months, unless they have been a member of another fire department. The executive board must approve all applications and proximity to the district. Applicants can be taken on the department as EMS (Emergency Medical Services) only and are not required to take firefighter classes unless he or she decides to become a firefighter. Junior Firefighter: Junior Firefighter members serve in support role for the senior firefighters at actual emergencies as a supplement to a formal training program. The Volunteer Firefighter serves the community by responding to a wide variety of situations, ranging from emergencies that immediately threaten life or property to routine citizen requests for information or assistance. They perform within the scope of the policies and procedures of Mt. Olive Vol. Fire Dept. and they perform duties in the following general categories: fire suppression, emergency medical aid or rescue, hazardous material responses, training, building inspections and public education. The Volunteer FF/EMT normally works under the supervision of a company officer and is expected to function effectively as part of a highly trained team. They are also expected to perform their duties under adverse conditions and physical conditions that may pose a high risk of personal injury or exposure to hazardous conditions or infectious diseases. The Volunteer FF/EMT is required to attend regularly scheduled training in order to maintain the high level of knowledge, skill and ability necessary to function safely and effectively as a firefighter and EMS provider in accordance with state law, county protocols, and standard operating procedures. | Requirements: Minimum of 19 years old | Categories: EMT, Firefighter
