Our Junior Firefighter Program is to give young adults with an interest in Fire and Rescue services a better understanding of these fields of service in the hope that they will further pursue this interest. The program will give young adults an insight to these services and their related skills. Guest speakers and the Fire Department personnel involvement will be included in the programs activities. JRFF’s may operate on an incident scene to assist with the following activities: • Accountability • Rehab • Hose relocation, rolling, and/or loading outside an IDLH atmosphere • Exterior operations using hose lines of 2” or less and not within an IDLH atmosphere • Equipment retrieval from apparatus | Requirements: • Shall have graduated from High School or be enrolled in school and meet the attendance requirements as set forth by federal, state, or local agencies in good standing (Exception: JRFF’s enrolled in an approved home or private school program are acceptable) • Shall maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least the equivalent of the letter “C” (2.0) in all core curriculum • Shall not participate in any fire department activities during regular school hours unless an authorized school function JRFF’s: • Age 14 and under are only permitted to attend classroom training and observe the skills and/or hands-on portion of the training evolutions • Age 15-17, when properly equipped with personal protective equipment, are permitted to participate in classroom and/or skills/hands-on training evolutions in certain categories. | Categories: Junior Members

Join other bulldog lovers and give your time and skills to help with events, fundraising, home visits, phone interviews, transports, and more. Volunteers are crucial in supporting the rescue operations and ensuring the welfare of the bulldogs.

The Highview Fire District relies heavily on volunteer firefighters. These men and women come from all walks of life, but all have one thing in common – at a moments notice, they put their lives on the line for their community. Our members include engineers, mechanics, painters, plumbers, police officers, and students. If you have the desire to serve your community and you meet our requirements, GEAR UP WE HAVE ROOM FOR YOU. Once you are accepted into our volunteer firefighter recruit program, you will be put through 18 plus weeks of intensive training. You will be given the knowledge and the tools necessary to perform at the scene of an emergency. Once you have successfully completed the recruit program, you will be provided with standard issue firefighting gear and uniforms. You will also become eligible for our incentive programs. The Highview Fire Protection District accepts lateral transfers as well. Provided your training records are up to date, you will be tested on your knowledge and put through a familiarization course on Highview apparatus and Standard Operating Procedures. Assist Sycamore Farm by writing and submitting grant applications to secure funding for programs supporting trafficked women. This role requires strong writing skills and attention to detail.

Plan and organize events to support Sycamore Farm's mission, including fundraising and awareness events. This role requires strong organizational skills and creativity.

Engage with the community to raise awareness about human trafficking and the work of Sycamore Farm. Volunteers will participate in events and help with educational initiatives.

Volunteers will support the recruitment and assistance of foster and adoptive families. Responsibilities include helping with events, providing resources, and offering mentorship to families and youth transitioning to independent living.

Support communities in finding sustainable livelihoods and fostering self-reliance in Cebu, Philippines. Volunteers will assist in skills training and community development projects.

Assist in providing essential food and care to vulnerable populations in Cebu, Philippines. Volunteers will help organize and distribute food supplies as part of the nutritional aid services.

Provide spiritual support, mentorship, and community-driven educational opportunities to uplift communities in Cebu, Philippines. Volunteers will engage in church services, prayer meetings, and Bible studies.

Assist in outreach efforts to support the pets of the unhoused by distributing pet food and supplies. Volunteers play a crucial role in meeting the needs of the community and ensuring pets remain with their families.

Volunteer librarians assist with the operation of the Louisville Tool Library during open hours. Responsibilities include helping members borrow tools, maintaining the organization of the library, and providing information about the library's services. Orientation is provided through a shadow shift during open library hours.

Greeter Volunteers assist newcomers by describing the FCCB mission, signing-in members, giving shop tours, and helping assess bike repair issues. No special bike skills are needed, just a smile and willingness to get involved.

Drop-In Volunteers are welcome during Open Shop hours to assist with various tasks around the shop. Volunteers do not need bicycle mechanic experience, and all skill levels are encouraged to help with organizing, cleaning, and other non-bike-related tasks.

General Volunteers help with shop organization, donor bike teardowns for salvage parts, parts sorting, bike cleaning, and general cleanup activities. No specific skills are required, making it a great opportunity for anyone to get involved.
