We understand that not every person is comfortable with the thought of entering a burning building, however, there are more opportunities in the Fire Department than that! In addition to covering the Village of Bennington we are active in a Tri-State area mutual aid system. New Ashford Vol Fire Dept
The New Ashford Volunteer Fire Department is looking for new members to join the Fire Department. The New Ashford Volunteer Fire Department recently have lost several long term members due to retirements. The Department is looking for fill the ranks with new members with a interests in learning as well as training to become a Firefighter. The NAVFD provides in-house training for all of our members with outside agencies such as the MA Firefighting Academy providing classes from the the Fire Academy for any Fire Department within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. There also is Medical training that we will provide to the members that wish to join the Fire Department. If a person wants to join the Fire Department but not in the capacity of a Firefighter, we at the New Ashford Volunteer Fire Department have other positions for anyone, we have Members on the Department that provide support in several areas, such as help with IT support with the Department's computer, radio's and other tasks. Also have members that help with community outreach for the Fire Department, fundraising etc. So there is a role for everyone that would like to be a part of the New Ashford Volunteer Fire Department. Remember "We need your help, so when you need our help". If you have any interest in joining the NAVFD please reach out to the Interim Chief or any one of the Department Officers. | Requirements: The NAVFD has no requirements at this time. We welcome anyone that would be interested in joining the Department and learning to be a Firefighter. We welcome if anyone has experience in the Fire Service/EMS or other emergency services experience to reach out to us. Our Department is always looking for new members to join the ranks. The New Ashford Fire Department is very family oriented and some of our member's spouses have joined the Department as support members.
