The volunteers of Woodbridge Fire Department have been serving the residents of the Woodbridge and Sewaren sections of Woodbridge Township since 1897. We are looking for dedicated, motivated individuals that want to serve their community in a vitally important way. We provide all the training and equipment you need and only ask for your time and effort in return. Our members are from all walks of life, and you will make lifelong friends. You will gain experience and skills that will help you both personally and professionally. We do not have duty times or schedules, you respond when you are available. We expect you to respond to 20% of calls per month (about 3 per week) . Volunteers support the Recreation Department by organizing and participating in social activities, outings, and special events for residents. They also help with the distribution of donations and materials to enhance resident experiences.

Volunteers provide spiritual support through weekly religious services, Bible study classes, individual counseling, and hospice visits. Services are available for Jewish, Catholic, Protestant, and non-denominational faiths.

The 40+ hour Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate training prepares you to provide in-person support to survivors of sexual violence at police stations, hospitals, and courts in Middlesex County. Learn about trauma, crisis intervention, advocacy skills, community resources, and more. No experience is needed, and anyone 18 years or older is invited to apply.

Provide sports instruction to youth and young adults of all backgrounds, including underserved and special needs individuals. Help build their sports skills, confidence, and sportsmanship.

Assist in transporting animals from foster homes to adoption events or new homes. This role is crucial in ensuring the safe and timely relocation of pets.

Open your home to a foster pet, helping to provide temporary care and support until a permanent home is found. This role helps free up space in the main facility to rescue more animals.

Conduct home visits for potential adopters to ensure a safe and suitable environment for the pets. This role involves interacting with families and assessing their readiness for pet adoption.

Currently seeking a motivated individual wishing to become a volunteer Firefighter within our department. This IS NOT a salaried / paid Firefighter position. 5-10 hours per week may be required, depending on call volume. Prior Emergency Services experience is preferred, but not required.
