Assist in our after-school homework help and tutoring program at Family Centers in Bay Shore, Brentwood, Huntington Station, and Riverhead from October to May. This role supports students in their academic success.

As a Cat Caretaker Volunteer, you will be responsible for cleaning and socializing with the cats at our Adoption Center. Volunteers are required to commit to at least 2 hours per week and must be 18 years or older.

Volunteers with strong office and computer skills can donate a few hours each week to assist with clerical work at one of our 20 offices. This role helps ensure smooth operations and support for various programs.

Advocate for elderly neighbors living in nursing homes and adult care homes in Suffolk County. Volunteers visit assigned homes weekly to help residents understand their rights to quality care.

Skilled gardeners and horticulturists, as well as beginners, are invited to volunteer at ELIJA Farm. Volunteers can participate in various activities such as planting, harvesting, and groundskeeping, and are encouraged to come alone or with groups of all sizes.

Be responsible for maintaining one of our pollinator gardens. We will teach you what plants need to be pulled and how to identify the native plants. You will need to complete a one-hour training session. Once trained, you can work on your own schedule.

Engage in environmental-based volunteering suited for employee groups, with a brief presentation on Caumsett's history and the environmental benefits of the group's work. Typically conducted on weekend mornings.

Work in a small group during the week on various tasks such as cutting vines, digging out roots, weed whacking, pulling weeds, installing deer fencing, and planting natives. The jobs vary depending on the time of year, but the job satisfaction is consistently high! Volunteering takes place in the morning for 2 to 3 hours.

Weekend volunteer efforts are generally on Saturdays from 9:30 to 11:30 and are coordinated with the NYS Park Saturday Stewards. The type of work is seasonal, but the majority focuses on invasive removal and planting.

Volunteers are needed to manage the Food Collection Table at summer concerts, collecting donations to help the food insecure in the community. Responsibilities include receiving and packing donations and distributing raffle tickets to donors.

The Syosset Fire Department (SFD) was organized in 1915 by local residents to help protect their community from the potential ravages of fire. A century later, we are still proud volunteers who provide a professional level of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to our neighbors in the Syosset Fire District. Volunteers are needed to assist in the classroom, gallery, studios, and at arts & crafts fairs. Responsibilities include helping with events, distributing literature, and maintaining a positive attitude while following the Art League’s policies and procedures.
