Assist with the Barrel Program aimed at preventing trash from entering waterways. Volunteers will help manage and maintain barrel bins placed in strategic locations.

Help with nail sweeping activities to remove nails and other debris from waterways, ensuring a safer environment for wildlife and humans.

Participate in the Fishing Line Recycling program by collecting and recycling fishing lines to prevent them from harming aquatic life.

Join designated cleanup days on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month to help clean different waterways throughout Brevard County. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves and hydration, and wear closed-toe shoes.

Help direct traffic and park cars, ensuring smooth flow of vehicles. Volunteers should be prepared for outdoor activity and have good communication skills.

Assist with setting up and tearing down the event, including unloading cars and hanging banners. Volunteers should be prepared for physical activity such as standing, walking, and lifting.

Assist with checking in volunteers, handing out t-shirts, and providing directions. Volunteers should have good customer service skills and be prepared for interpersonal interactions.

Monitor activities in the Family Fun Zone, including inflatables and face painting, ensuring safety and managing crowd control. Volunteers should be prepared for physical activity and interacting with families.

Assist in the Little Growers Youth Garden Club by helping with gardening activities, mentoring youth, and supporting environmental education initiatives. Volunteers will engage with children to promote sustainability and community care.

The Melbourne Beach Volunteer Fire Department is a small, single station department located in the Town of Melbourne Beach, Florida. We respond to approximately 200 calls for service each year, as well as host and participate in many community events. Our Support Services Team is made up of members that wish to respond to emergencies and assist within the Department, but do not want to, or are not physically able to become a state certified volunteer firefighter. These members play an important role within the Department and assist with non-hazardous emergency tasks, freeing up our Agency's certified volunteer firefighters to do other critical jobs. The Melbourne Beach Volunteer Fire Department is a small, single station department located in the Town of Melbourne Beach, Florida. We respond to approximately 200 calls for service each year, as well as host and participate in many community events. All of our volunteer firefighters are State Certified to the Firefighter 1 level, and many of our members have gone on to obtain their Firefighter level 2 certification. Additionally, all volunteer firefighters are trained to respond to wild fires, vehicle accidents, and other emergencies. The MBVFD is home to multiple fire/rescue apparatus including Engine 58, Engine 258, Squad 58 and District 58. Each vehicle plays an important role in our ability to fight fires and perform rescues. While our station does not routinely run EMS (medical) calls, we are occasionally called upon on to assist the local EMS transport agency. All of our Department’s volunteers are required to take First Responder training, as well as maintain their BLS CPR certifications. In addition, we have members that have chosen to take their training further and are State Certified EMTs and Paramedics. Another one of our primary roles is marine rescue. We specialize in ocean and river rescue, and we respond to marine rescue calls throughout the southern half of Brevard County. Our station is home to ATV 58, Marine 58 (larger river rescue boat), and Marine 258 (Jet Ski). Assist in organizing incoming materials, helping visitors, and conducting pickups at local businesses. Volunteers may also help with Play Workshops and Teacher or Parent Training Opportunities.

Help set up corporate training experiences that focus on the power of play. Assist in organizing and conducting training sessions for businesses and organizations.

Assist with packaging and delivering pet food to local food pantries to support senior citizens in feeding their pets. Volunteers should have a passion for helping animals and seniors.

Open your home to a pet in need and provide temporary care. All pet expenses are covered by the organization. Volunteers should have a genuine love for animals and a warm heart for the elderly.

Provide temporary housing for dogs, cats, and possibly other species. All supplies are provided as needed, and the foster term is typically up to 90 days. Confidentiality is maintained for privacy and safety reasons.

Coordinate with guest speakers for health-related talks by managing schedules, communication, and event logistics. Volunteers will ensure speakers have the necessary resources and support during events.
