The Harrisburg Fire Department serves an area of approximately 86 square miles. This area stretches from the Harrisburg Bridge to Mt. Tom, and 6 miles both North and South of Harrisburg. Highway 99E, Interstate 5, two rail lines, and the Willamette River pass through our District. The Department responds to over 450 calls each year, and handles situations involving fire protection, vehicle accidents, hazardous materials, water rescue and more commonly, medical emergencies for the residents in the area in which it serves. Calls range from trash fires to house fires; from simple scratches to massive traumas. Harrisburg Fire also provides medical services for football games and other community events. But it’s not all business. Harrisburg Fire exists to support its community, and its mission is to do that in as many ways as possible, not just fire and life safety. We participate in various community programs, including the Fourth of July Breakfast, Parade, and Fireworks show. It’s not uncommon to see fire trucks leading parades for out high school sports teams in celebration of district or state championships. You will see our team in action at various school functions, Including Health Fairs, Fire Prevention and giving tours of the Fire station. We have 3 career staff, a Fire Chief, Training Officer, and Firefighter. Guide visits for adopters of farm animals, helping them connect with goats, pigs, chickens, and rabbits. Enhance social skills, emotional intelligence, and executive functions through engaging, hands-on experiences.

Provide assistance at the emergency shelter during times when outside conditions are dangerous or unhealthy. Volunteers will help ensure a safe environment for those in need.

Assist in preparing and serving free dinners every Sunday from 4:30 - 6 PM. Volunteers should arrive at 4:15 PM and may need to complete food safety training if they do not have a current Food Handler’s card.

Mentor students to help them meet their life goals by providing encouragement and counsel on goal setting, priorities, and perseverance.

Attend events that students participate in to cheer them on and support their efforts. It is essential for students to feel supported in life to avoid negative influences.

Join the 'Friends of the Nobel Peace Park' group to assist with ongoing park maintenance and clean-up on an as-needed basis. Volunteers can be individuals, businesses, schools, or civic organizations willing to contribute to the upkeep of the park.

Coburg Fire District covers 32 square miles from the Mckenzie river to the Lane/Linn county line. We provide emergency response to all hazards within our boundaries and provide mutual aid to neighboring agencies. Some of the more common emergencies that we respond to are, Medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, brush/vegetation fires, structure fires and hazardous material spills. Last year, Coburg Volunteer firefighters responded to over 470 emergencies. Those responses were all possible because of our volunteers. Assist healthcare professionals in providing basic medical care, distributing supplies, and supporting patients during clinic hours. Volunteers help with tasks such as wound care, hygiene item distribution, and patient consultations.

Assist in grooming Miniature Schnauzers, some of which may arrive in poor condition. Volunteers may provide grooming services or help coordinate with professional groomers who offer discounted services to the rescue.

Assist with listing upcoming workshops, events, and courses related to permaculture and sustainable agriculture. Coordinate with experienced food foresters to manage the site.

Contribute to the environmental social network by listing events, linking to websites, and posting article content to encourage solutions to the climate crisis.

Assist with the care and nurturing of dogs at the Northwest Dog Project. Volunteers are essential in providing love and support to neglected and homeless dogs. Volunteers must be 18 years or older and provide their own transportation.

As a Music Mentor, volunteers will guide and support students in their musical journey, helping them explore and develop their talents. Volunteers will work closely with students to foster a love for music and arts in a supportive environment.

Event Staffing Volunteers will assist in organizing and managing events, ensuring smooth operations and a welcoming atmosphere for attendees. Responsibilities include greeting guests, managing check-ins, and providing general support during events.

Volunteers in this role will help promote MEPAA's programs and events through various social media platforms. Responsibilities include creating engaging content, managing social media accounts, and increasing online visibility.

Assist in promoting Nonviolent Communication by engaging with the community at the Empathy Tent. Volunteers will provide information about NVC and facilitate empathetic listening sessions.
