We are a 100% volunteer department located 46 miles directly west of the city of Chicago. We do ask volunteers to be within a certain distance of the Fire district to help in responding too calls. We are a close community and strive to help in many opportunities. We do meet weekly for training and once your past your probation period you are able to gain knowledge and respond to calls. We also cover standbys one weekend per month. As a Lifeline Paraprofessional Volunteer, you will assist callers on the local Depression Line and National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Volunteers are required to commit to one regular 4-hour shift each week and complete a minimum of 240 hours of service after training, which includes various training sessions and supervised shifts.

As a Transportation Assistant, you will provide transportation for newly arriving families to appointments or from the airport. This role is essential in helping families settle into their new lives and ensuring they have access to necessary services.

As an English Tutor, you will assist immigrants and refugees in improving their English language skills through one-on-one or small group sessions. This role is crucial for helping them integrate into the community and gain confidence in their communication abilities.

Join a Good Neighbor Team to partner with a refugee or asylum seeker family for 4-6 months, providing friendship and support as they navigate life in the U.S. This role involves building relationships and helping families feel welcomed in their new community.

Assist in organizing and managing the boutique, helping clients find the perfect dress, and maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the store. Volunteers may also help with administrative tasks and event preparation.

Social Media volunteers help spread awareness about rescue efforts, showcase adoptable dogs, and share success stories. They play a key role in engaging the community and promoting the organization's mission.

Foster volunteers provide shelter, socialization, basic training, and care for dogs, taking them to vet appointments and teaching them love. This role is crucial for preparing dogs for adoption into their forever homes.

Event volunteers assist in hosting and organizing events to promote adoptable dogs and raise awareness about rescue efforts. They are needed for dog handling and spreading the organization's mission at events.

Volunteers on the Application Team process incoming applications, conduct vet reference checks, and perform phone interviews. This team is vital in ensuring the best matches between dogs and adoptive families.

Medical Team volunteers oversee the medical care of foster dogs, ensuring they receive necessary treatments and care before adoption. This role is essential for the health and well-being of the dogs.
