Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Department (BVFD) is activly looking for people to fill our ranks. The BVFD is a 100% volunteer fire department protecting around 970 full time residents within 50 square miles. The BVFD when requested will respond to help our neighboring towns for larger incidents such as a building fire. The department was organized in 1951 after community members felt the need for fire protection. At that point the BVFD had one engine that the department members built themselves, and housed it at the Bridgewater Woolen Mill. A few years later members were able to raise the funds to purchase a new engine and build a fire house. The BVFD has come a long way since those days. Currently the BVFD has a brand new fire station that was completed in May of 2022, two engines, one tanker, one light rescue/forestry truck, and one polaris UTV. The BVFD on average responds to 50-70 calls a year. These calls consist of structure fires, chimney fires, motor vehicle accidents, brush/forest fires, lost or injured hikers, set up landing zones, weather emergencies, fire alarm activations, haz-mat incidents, mutual aid calls to neighboring towns, and any other emergency that is brought to the BVFD. BVFD members meet every Monday night at 6:30PM for training, equipment maintenance, meetings, and to set up for various fundraisers such as our chicken BBQ. The BVFD relies heavily on donations for funding in order to purchase necessary equipment. | Requirements: The BVFD is looking for committed and motivated individuals. No prior firefighter training is required. We will train people in house to conduct basic fire fighting skills, such as stretching a hose line, hooking up to a hydrant, raising a ladder, pump operations, traffic control, use of the "Jaws of Life", wildland firefighting, and more. If you wish to become an interior certified firefighter then candidates would have to complete a pro board certified class hosted by the Vermont Fire Academy. We are also seeking individuals between the ages of 16 and 17 to become jr. firefighters. These members are taught basic firefighting skills that do not place the individuales in immediate danger. Junior members will be mentored by our experienced firefighters. Junior firefighters may respond to certain calls under direct supervision of a BVFD Fire Officer. The BVFD also offers an auxiliary role. Ambassador Agents represent MIB Agents in their communities, raising awareness about osteosarcoma and the organization's mission. Volunteers will participate in outreach activities and events to promote the cause.

As a Gamer Agent, volunteers engage with patients through gaming activities, providing companionship and entertainment to children affected by osteosarcoma. Volunteers will help organize and participate in gaming sessions.

Provide free professional services such as legal, medical, or educational support to asylum seekers to aid in their integration and well-being.

Volunteers will plan and execute monthly Mixes, organizing locations, speakers, entertainment, and activities. They will also help with marketing and spreading news online.

Volunteers will handle advertising and branding for RYP, manage social media, and develop materials for sponsorship and membership growth.

Volunteers will promote inclusion and equity, focusing on diversity in all its forms. They will create programs that support a welcoming environment for all.

Volunteers will help build strong membership and relationships between RYP and local employers. They will contribute to the economic vitality of the Rutland region by attracting and retaining a diverse workforce.

We are currently looking for a couple of people to join the Proctor Volunteer Fire Dept. The role would be as a Vermont State Certified firefighter, We will send you to the fire academy for your training. We also meet at the fire station monthly to provide training and work on Maintenace of the equipment. We meet on the first, second and third Monday of the month at 6pm. We typically respond to about 50 calls for service every year and they vary in nature. The West Rutland Fire Department has been providing emergency services to the Town of West Rutland since 1891. Our Department provides fire protection, hazardous materials response, and rescue services to the residents and visitors of West Rutland and our surrounding communities through mutual aid. We are staffed with approximately 20 volunteer/call firefighters who are on call and respond when an emergency occurs. The West Rutland Fire Department is well-equipped with a fleet of 6 on-road vehicles and 1 off-road vehicle, a full compliment of modern firefighting and rescue equipment, and dedicated Firefighters who pride themselves in their skills and community service. We are housed in a modern fire station and meet regularly to further our training. The Department answers approximately 100 emergency calls for service each year.
