Guest speakers are needed to share their experiences and provide motivational talks to young men, helping them see the possibilities for success in life. Speakers should be able to relate to youth and inspire them to pursue positive paths.

Volunteers will mentor young men, ages 12-19, to help them set and achieve goals, providing positive role models and guidance. Volunteers are expected to engage in discussions and activities that promote leadership and personal development.

Provide reliable transportation for older adults to medical appointments, grocery stores, and community programs. Help seniors maintain their independence and stay connected with their community.

Assist older adults with computers, smartphones, and virtual meetings to help them stay connected with loved ones and resources. Enhance their digital literacy and confidence.

Engage in friendly visits and activities with older adults to promote wellness and companionship. Help reduce social isolation and build meaningful connections.

Occasional volunteer activities include gardening, office work, organizing donated items, cleaning donated tack, and working event sales tables. Volunteers can also assist with decorating, cooking, and photography.

Volunteers are needed to work at fundraising events, which includes setting up, interacting with the public, and promoting the rescue group. This role requires travel to event locations and working the hours you have signed up for.

Volunteers are needed to call and verify personal and vet references for prospective adopters. This role involves making detailed phone calls and reporting back to the group.

Volunteers provide temporary homes for dogs in need, especially those pulled from shelters or abusive situations. This role requires a safe environment for the dogs and a willingness to care for them until a permanent home is found.

The Providence Volunteer Fire Company, established in 1947, is a 100% volunteer organization. It provides fire suppression, rescue, collapse rescue, and emergency medical services to the citizens of Towson, HIllendale, Parkville, and the surrounding areas in a variety of areas including urban, suburban, and rural communities. Members take in over a 1000 runs each year gaining invaluable experience. Professional Training Our members are encouraged to participate in training courses offered both in-house as well as through the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute. MFRI courses meet professional qualification standards and are recognized throughout the nation. In-house training is designed to work with our particular needs. Each Monday night a training class is scheduled to meet the needs of firefighting essentials, Fire and EMS cooperative training, EMS skills, and other selected topics. Nationally recognized instructors have been brought in for specialized sessions. Abingdon Fire Company has an in-house scholarship program open to members and immediate family members. By meeting qualified volunteer standards and performing 40 hours per month of duty time the student is eligible to receive up to $3,000 per school year. | Requirements: NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to work with other volunteers, agencies and the public. Ability to perform strenuous physical activity in excess of 150 lbs. of force or greater Ability to act effectively in emergency and stressful situations.
