New candidates will attend a Fire Academy for required training with opportunities for additional training throughout you time with the fire department, there is always more to learn. After background and physical check you will be appointed by the town and can start riding to emergency calls and participating in FD activities even while attending academy. Our members consist of people from all walks of life, both male and females, that want to help their community and neighbors in their time of need. | Requirements: Must be at least 16 to be a Junior Firefighter, at 18 after training you can be a full firefighter. In order to join the state Relief Association you must be under the age of 40. You should be in reasonably good health and able to perform varied physical activities. Biggest time commitment is in the beginning for Firefighter 1 class which generally runs a couple evenings per week and some weekend days.
