La Honda Fire brigade is now taking applications for volunteer firefighters. Volunteer Firefighters are always wanted and needed! Our firefighters are a well trained, disciplined group of local residents who come together to serve the community. Unlike some “volunteer reserve firefighters”, our firefighters comprise 100% of our department and run first-out on all types of emergencies. Our firefighters actually do everything they are trained to do, and find it both fun and rewarding. As an Outdoor Education Volunteer, you will assist in leading nature-based educational programs for children and families. Volunteers will help facilitate activities, engage participants, and promote a love for the outdoors.

Assist with food preparation and distribution at the Buena Vista Food Pantry, which operates on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month. Volunteers will help prep bulk food supplies and check in guests.

Volunteers assist with grooming, tacking, preparing students and horses for lessons, and general stable management. No prior horse experience is required; the most valuable skills are compassion, good communication, and a positive attitude.

Skilled Volunteers are sought to support the organization in areas such as graphic design, social media, public relations, and web development. Volunteers can share their expertise to help advance the mission of Jasper Ridge Farm.

Youth Impact Volunteers play an essential role in supporting our mission while gaining meaningful, hands-on service experience. They assist with animal care, facility maintenance, and special events, developing compassion, responsibility, and leadership skills.

Healing Programs Volunteers help facilitate interactions between our animals and clients during scheduled programs. They support animal-client interactions and can choose shifts that match their interests and availability.

Animal Care Volunteers provide daily care, feeding, and attention to the farm animals. This role requires a commitment to a regular morning shift each week and involves physical tasks including some heavy lifting.

We are looking for volunteers to help sort donations of books as they come in. This role is essential to keep our sale shelves fresh and appealing for the community.

Join our Board of Directors to help guide the library's mission and activities. We meet five times a year at the library, providing a great opportunity to make a positive impact on this community resource.

Docents help interpret the Woodside Store for visitors and assist with school programs. This role provides an opportunity to educate the public about local history.

As a STEM Mentor, you will work directly with students to inspire and guide them in their STEM education journey. Mentors will help facilitate learning experiences and provide support in various STEM subjects.

Join the Bay Area Mountain Rescue Unit as a volunteer and assist in search and rescue operations in wilderness areas. Volunteers are required to undergo extensive training and must be prepared for a significant time commitment to ensure readiness for deployments.

Provide weekly tutoring to K-12 students from Redwood City and East Palo Alto. Volunteers will help students improve their academic skills and provide mentorship.

Teach health lessons to middle school students from medically underserved populations. Volunteers will help educate youth on important health topics and promote healthy lifestyles.

Help patients who have limited or no reliable transportation by driving them to and from their appointments at our office in Los Altos. This role requires a commitment to assist a few times per month.

Assist non-English speaking patients by interpreting at appointments and translating forms. We are particularly in need of Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, and Russian interpreters, but other languages are welcome.
