This program will teach the skills necessary to becoming an active firefighter for your community. The fire explorer program focuses on improving self-confidence, learning leadership qualities, and developing social network skills. Team building exercises will provide hands-on experiences that are fun and exciting as you learn the tactics firefighters use on a daily basis. The Ward 6 Fire Protection District #1 is search for individuals with a little more to give. The department is staffed by volunteer firefighters and we need you. Volunteering as little as 5 hours per week can provide you an introduction to the fire service. Training, responding to emergencies, and of course the acceptance into the brother or sisterhood of firefighting will instill the skills you need to give back to your community. The volunteer firefighter's work together with other volunteers to check equipment, participate in training, respond to fires, vehicle crashes, haz-Mat incidents, and many other types of service calls. | Requirements: Training will be provided by the department. The willingness to commit to volunteering a minimum of 5 hours per week at the department for training, responses, and other job tasks.
