The Leonia Fire Department began in 1898 and has been the backbone of the borough for over 125 years. The LFD has responded to dozens of fires and saved countless lives over that span and does much more in the community than responding to emergencies. We support and participate in all Leonia events in an effort to connect with the community and perform public outreach to potential volunteers and also children to educate them on fire safety and the fire service. | Requirements: Volunteers must be over 18 years old, live within 5 miles of Leonia borough limits, and submit for background and physical screening. Upon being accepted by the LFD Member Committee, you will be confirmed by the Mayor and Council. Support the Englewood Corps by assisting with community programs, events, and administrative tasks. Volunteers play a key role in outreach efforts.

Assist in children's dance classes by supporting teachers and ensuring students receive the attention they need. Ideal for those with a dance background or who are great with kids.

Help prepare the dance studio space for the fall semester by painting, fixing, cleaning, and organizing. Join the community effort to create a welcoming environment for students.

Support the organization by transporting costumes and other items to events or performances. Ideal for those with a vehicle willing to donate their time.

Document classes, performances, and events by volunteering photography or videography skills. Help share the memory of the organization's activities.

Assist in creating virtual dance content by helping to creatively format dance and choreography for online platforms. Ideal for those with skills in video production.

Help keep the organization's website information current by editing and updating content. Ideal for those with website editing skills.

Volunteers will perform 10-minute plays over the telephone to individual senior citizens and others who are housebound, providing them with entertainment and social interaction. This opportunity is part of a project in collaboration with social service organizations to reach those without easy internet access.

The Fairview Fire Department is always looking for male or female volunteers to join our department. You must be 18 years of age and live within a 5 mile radius of Fairview to join the Fire Department. The Fairview Fire Department consists of 3 Engine companies, 1 Truck company and 1 Rescue company. Volunteer firefighters are expected to be on call to respond to emergency calls for long periods of time, and are summoned to the fire station when their services are needed. They are also expected to attend other non-emergency duties as well (training, fundraising, town events, department events and equipment maintenance, etc.). The Fairview Volunteer Fire Department values diversity in the workplace.
