Upon graduation, each certified canine therapy team is assigned a location to volunteer based on the dog's temperament and the handler's preferences. Volunteers work in schools, hospitals, and veteran facilities, providing support and companionship to those in need.

The RFD offers a number of opportunities to serve your community through the volunteer fire service, and much of it has nothing to do with firefighting. The fire service is not for everyone. You need more than just a desire to help people in order to succeed. You need courage, dedication, assertiveness, and an open mind to learn new skills and face new challenges. You will also need to have the time for training sessions, meetings, emergency responses, and various other functions. There are many other ways to assist your community through the RFD. These include Junior Firefighting, Recruitment, Fund-Raising, Record-Keeping, Financial Services and Community Service. The personal rewards and satisfaction received from the volunteer fire service give every member a sense of accomplishment when a goal is achieved. The brotherhood and teamwork exemplified within the fire service helps individuals develop and maintain friendships. The information learned through the fire service will also help you achieve your goals both educationally and professionally. Volunteers are needed to foster cats, providing them with a temporary home and care until they are adopted. No prior experience is necessary as training and guidance will be provided.

Participate in cleaning up street leaves and debris to keep the neighborhood neat and tidy. Volunteers will contribute to creating a cleaner and more pleasant community environment.

Teach children, elders, and adults about gardening and nature, fostering a love for the environment and sustainable practices. Volunteers will engage with community members to share knowledge and inspire gardening skills.

Help organize and assist with fundraiser events to support the rescue operations. Volunteers will engage with the community and help raise awareness and funds.

Tend to community gardens by weeding, watering, harvesting, and nurturing plants to keep them vibrant and healthy. Volunteers will help maintain the gardens and support eco-friendly initiatives.

Provide administrative support by helping with tasks such as data entry, scheduling, and responding to inquiries. This role supports the overall operations of the rescue.

Assist in maintaining clean and sanitary conditions for the cats by cleaning kennels and feeding animals. This role may be physically active and requires attention to detail.

The Skippack Fire Company is a 100% all volunteer organization, responding to 280 calls for service in 2018. The Skippack Fire Company operates out of one firehouse which provides primary fire and rescue protection to the residents, businesses of Skippack Township and those visiting and traveling through town. We are always looking for new members.
