The Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department is currently seeking individuals who want to serve in our community as volunteer Firefighters and Emergency Medical Responders. Many people volunteer for different reasons. Some people join for the action, they enjoy the excitement and adrenaline rush that EMS offers. Some feel that helping people in the community in their time of need is fulfilling while others feel it’s their obligation to serve the community. Others just want to belong to a team. LFVC offers many challenging situations from fires to motor vehicle accidents to sick and/or injured people. Your skills may be needed day or night, seven days a week, in any kind of weather, and very often under stressful and emotional circumstances. Yet these factors contribute to our profession being so personally rewarding. The personal rewards are many. Your sense of accomplishment when you help a sick person or help control a fire or perform a successful extrication at a motor vehicle accident, as a result of your training with us, will be beyond description. Your participation as a volunteer of LVFC will bring personal rewards and satisfaction, raise self esteem, and provide you with a sense of accomplishment and pride for a job well done. It also provides the community with a valuable service that has the potential to touch us all. However, becoming a member of the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department requires a commitment. Your decision to submit an application to join our organization should not be made hastily. The services provide by our volunteers requires trainings and numerous hours doing so. This training, as well as the safety and services we provide, are truly valuable to the citizens, businesses and visitors of our community. Assist in maintaining and improving the Audubon Society of Central Maryland's sanctuaries to ensure they remain safe and welcoming for both wildlife and visitors. Tasks may include habitat restoration, trail maintenance, and facility upkeep.

Utilize your expertise in communications, fundraising, and community relations to enhance the Audubon Society of Central Maryland's brand and outreach efforts. Volunteers will work on developing communication strategies and engaging with the community to promote the organization's mission.

Advocate for environmental issues by participating in campaigns and initiatives that promote conservation and protection of natural habitats in central Maryland. Volunteers will engage with the community and local organizations to raise awareness and support for environmental causes.

The West Friendship Volunteer Fire Department is in need of volunteers to become firefighters and EMT's. This department is progressive and can offer help to obtain commercial drivers licenses for those wishing to drive fire apparatus. Help also is available to further EMS education past EMT to become a paramedic. Volunteering at West Friendship will also allow for in county tuition for an Associate of Applied Sciences in Fire Science at Howard Community College for those who qualify. The department has dorm rooms available for residency for those who qualify. Mentors assist actors on and offstage during rehearsals and shows, model appropriate social interactions, and build deep, meaningful relationships with actors. Mentors support our Inclusive Theater Companies and Expressive Arts Classes.

Backstage crew members help move sets on and off stage, open and close the curtain, assist actors with props, and handle other show-related needs. This is a fast-paced, high-energy volunteer experience.

Volunteers help with selling tickets and concessions at shows, making sets, props, or costumes, and managing a Barrier-Free booth at marketing events. Volunteering is flexible to fit your schedule.

PathFinder is an initiative connecting adults 50+ with young adults (18–24) to support them in finding meaningful work through one-on-one mentoring, skill building, and community connection. Volunteers guide the next generation by sharing real-life advice and skills.
