The Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department is currently seeking individuals who want to serve in our community as volunteer Firefighters and Emergency Medical Responders. Many people volunteer for different reasons. Some people join for the action, they enjoy the excitement and adrenaline rush that EMS offers. Some feel that helping people in the community in their time of need is fulfilling while others feel it’s their obligation to serve the community. Others just want to belong to a team. LFVC offers many challenging situations from fires to motor vehicle accidents to sick and/or injured people. Your skills may be needed day or night, seven days a week, in any kind of weather, and very often under stressful and emotional circumstances. Yet these factors contribute to our profession being so personally rewarding. The personal rewards are many. Your sense of accomplishment when you help a sick person or help control a fire or perform a successful extrication at a motor vehicle accident, as a result of your training with us, will be beyond description. Your participation as a volunteer of LVFC will bring personal rewards and satisfaction, raise self esteem, and provide you with a sense of accomplishment and pride for a job well done. Taking Flight is a group of young adult leaders (aged 18 to 26) who use their personal experience with behavioral health challenges and trauma to advocate for positive system changes and support the development of a young adult peer network in Maryland. Taking Flight empowers young adults as they prepare for independent lives, promotes acceptance and education, and works to reduce stigma in areas including mental health, substance use, LGBTQIA+, foster care, and youth justice systems.

Assist in providing customized financial literacy programs designed for adults, teens, and children. Focus on personal finance topics important for financial wellness and sustainability.

Support the Financial Counseling Program by helping individuals become financially secure. Provide assistance with budgeting, saving, accessing credit, and avoiding debt.

Facilitate weekly and monthly support groups for survivors of domestic abuse, providing a safe space for participants to share their experiences and receive encouragement. Volunteers must complete a background check.

Assist in organizing donated materials on a weekly basis and participate in the setup and sales of book sales twice yearly. This role requires lifting during setup and cleanup.
