Little Mountain Fire-Rescue
We are a small department located in the Eastern portion of Newberry County. We operate fire/rescue/medical first responder/EMS. We are looking for Firefighters, EMT's or Paramedics that reside within the boundaries of Newberry County and have a desire to serve the community. Fire averages around 300 calls a year, Rescue averages around 400 calls a year. We operate 2 engines, 1 pumper/tanker, 1 service truck, 1 brush truck, 1 medium duty rescue, 1 medical QRV, 1 transport ambulance, 1 rescue UTV, 1 brush UTV and 1 boat. Our area is a mix of rural residential, light commercial, light manufacturing and we cover a portion of Lake Murray and Interstate 26. We have automatic aid agreements with surrounding departments in Newberry County and Lexington County and a mutual aid agreement with Columbia Fire Department. Newberry Fire Dept
We are looking for individuals who are highly motivated to become a part of our team. We expect our firefighters to gain certifications set forth by the department, meet participation requirements, and assist with community events as needed. We welcome individuals who do not want to fight fire apply with our department as well. These "non-firefighting" duties are limited to only a few slots. We would use these support personnel to assist with public education programs, fundraising events, and support functions on fire scenes. | Requirements: Volunteer firefighters and support personnel must be at least 18 years of age, pass a criminal background check, and possess a valid SC driver's license. We also require an application process that includes a field agility test (Support personnel may not be subject to this). We recommend individuals have at least a GED or high school diploma due to the required certification testing. Our explorer program is taking applications for new explorers. Explorers must be at least 14 years of age and have successfully completed the 8th grade. These individuals may remain in the explorer post until the age of 21.
