IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES Responds to all alarms for fire, hazardous materials and emergency medical services with designated equipment while on call as directed; connects and lays hose lines, enters burning structures with lines, operates nozzles, carries, raises and climbs ladders. As assigned, drives fire apparatus (must be Engineer Certified), locating it at a fire; connects to fire hydrant, operates pumps to maintain desired pressures to support fire suppression activities. Must be able to use department equipment as designed to prevent, control and mitigate emergency situations. As a Medical First Responder (MFR), provides emergency medical services as required and performs light to heavy rescue functions at emergencies. Performs fire prevention activities, company level inspections as assigned and participates in public education for members and groups in the community. Employees hired after July 1, 2011 shall be required to obtain and maintain Emergency Medical Technician, or higher, licensure in the State of Michigan Conducts themselves in accordance with the department’s code of conduct and displays the attributes of a firefighter with integrity on and off duty. The basic skills of firefighting, methods and techniques used in modern firefighting, commensurate with the Michigan State Firefighter’s Training Council Firefighter II certification, for protection of life and property and how to render medical aid as required in accordance with the Medical First Responder licensure as adopted within the State of Michigan.
