The Long Branch Volunteer Fire Department is one of the busiest firefighting forces in Monmouth County--so no matter if you want to put on a helmet and join Long Branch's Bravest or if you just want to help on the sidelines, there are opportunities for everyone in every age group to help keep our community safe. We accept Junior Firefighters starting at age 14. Honorary/Social/Supporting Members start at age 16. Full Firefighters are welcome at age 18 and up. Fire Company meetings are held once a month. The Division of Training conducts instruction and drills twice a month. All Firefighters must successfully complete firefighter recruit training (provided free of charge) at an approved Fire Academy (to be assigned by the department). | Requirements: Firefighters must have a good heart--both physically and emotionally. We are always there to help so you must have a servant's soul. You must be brave--brave enough to stand up and say "I want to serve my community" and then follow through on the training and commitment needed to be successful. You must be totally and completely loyal and trustworthy to not only our neighbors who rely on us but also to your fellow firefighters who will be depending on you to back them up and keep each other safe. Join the In-Home Recreation program to provide companionship to homebound or isolated elders through weekly visits. Volunteers engage in social conversation and activities of mutual interest, bringing joy and connection to seniors in the community.

Become a Reading Buddy and help advance literacy skills for preK–1st grade students by reading to small groups weekly. This program is designed for volunteers aged 55 and older who are passionate about supporting children's education and fostering a love for reading.

As a Telefriend, you will provide social contact and companionship to socially isolated residents through weekly telephone calls. Your role will involve listening, sharing stories, and checking on the health and well-being of adults in Monmouth, Middlesex, and Mercer Counties.

As a SHIP volunteer, you will assist Medicare beneficiaries and their families by providing unbiased support and guidance on Medicare-related insurance options. Training is provided, and no prior experience in health insurance is necessary.

CASA for Children of Monmouth County is seeking individuals to become Court Appointed Special Advocates for children in foster care. Volunteers must complete 30 hours of training and commit to advocating for a child’s best interests for 12-18 months, including attending court hearings and conducting case investigations.
